DIGITAL ANNOUNCES EARLY ADOPTION OF INTEL'S POWERFUL PENTIUM 120MHz
PROCESSOR

MAYNARD, Mass. -- March 27, 1995 -- Digital Equipment Corporation today
announced that the new Intel 120MHz Pentium processor will be offered in
Digital's Celebris family of desktop PCs. The 120MHz Pentium processor is
based on Intel's 3.3V processor, which was announced today. Specific
system configurations, delivery dates and prices for the Intel 120MHz
Pentium processor-based Celebris systems will be announced later this
spring.

According to Dataquest, the new Digital Celebris XL systems announced
earlier this month are "at the top of the performance pile." Howard Elias,
vice president, Desktop Product Line for Digital's Personal Computer
Business Unit, commented, "Our recently-announced Celebris XL systems have
set the performance benchmark for desktop systems. With the combination of
the 120MHz Pentium processors and the Celebris systems' ease-of-use and
application flexibility, we will keep up that pace by providing even
greater performance with minimal customer investment."

The Digital Celebris XL high-performance line was the first in the industry
to totally exploit the processor independence features of the
industry-standard PCI local bus, and the first PC system with a
motherboard/daughtercard architecture that offers a CISC/RISC upgrade
capability. Since its introduction, at Fall COMDEX in 1993, the Celebris
XL line continues to be highly rated in review after review.

"By adopting our newest processor in its Celebris line, Digital has
underscored a strong, shared commitment to addressing customers' demands
for ever greater power in easy-to-use desktop systems," commented Carl
Everett, senior vice president and general manager of Intel's
Microprocessors Products Group.

Digital recently announced several new enhancements to the Celebris line.
Offering high performance on a client desktop, the Celebris line features
include:

     o  90MHz and 100MHz single- and dual-processor Pentium
        systems;

     o 64-bit graphics accelerators, PCI/ISA subsystems and burst
        cache for increased performance;

     o upgrades to dual-Pentium and Alpha processors for maximum
        investment protection;

     o ease-of-use features for advanced productivity, normally
        found only on retail PCs; and

     o wide operating system support for application flexibility.

Quick and easy to upgrade, the Celebris desktop line is tailored for
advanced productivity and for power users who need a customized and
powerful computing environment. Typical applications include management
reporting, financial analysis, accounting, market analysis and research,
and desktop publishing.
