DATA GENERAL AND OPTICAL TECHNOLOGY GROUP TEAM UP TO BRING HIGH-VOLUME
OPTICAL STORAGE MANAGEMENT TO NT SERVERS

SAN FRANCISCO, April 11, 1995 -- As part of its strategy to extend the
availability of high-volume imaging and optical storage management
solutions throughout the enterprise, the Imaging Business Unit of Data
General Corporation today announced a strategic marketing relationship
with Optical Technology Group (OTG).

Under the ISV (Independent Software Vendor) agreement, Data General will
jointly market mass storage management software from OTG that efficiently
manages data across a combination of magnetic disks and optical jukeboxes
on Windows NT-based server systems. OTG's Disk Extender software is
compatible with Data General's award winning CLARiiON disk arrays and
Opstar family of optical storage subsystems. Disk Extender compliments
Data General's award-winning AV Image and newly announced AV cold
solutions in Windows NT server environments. Data General's Systems
Integration Business Unit is available to support customer needs for
implementation and support services for enterprise imaging solutions.

"We are committed to meeting the imaging needs of enterprise-level users
with our family of imaging solutions, powerful AViiON database servers and
advanced storage subsystems, says William Zastrow, vice president of Data
General's recently-announced Imaging Business Unit. "NT servers will play
an increasing role, along with AViiON database servers, in document
imaging applications."

"The Data General product suite brings high-volume, enterprise-level
imaging, COLD and workflow solutions to the ever-growing NT server
segment," says Richard Kay, president of Optical Technology Group. "These
enterprise users can only benefit from the combined product strengths and
experience of OTG and Data General."
