COMPAQ EXTENDS SUCCESSFUL LTE ELITE PROMOTION -- BUNDLE NOW INCLUDES
ADDITIONAL MODEL

HOUSTON, April 25, 1995 -- Further expanding the value of its notebook PCs,
Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) today announced the extension of
its Compaq SmartStation value promotion -- a $700 value -- through June
30, 1995. Additionally, the promotion now includes the LTE Elite 4/50E
line of notebook computers in the SmartStation bundle.

The SmartStation value promotion, announced in January, gives Compaq
customers a $700 desktop expansion base option free-of-charge for three of
Compaq's most powerful notebook computers: the LTE Elite 4/50E, the 4/50CX
and the 4/75CX. The promotion, originally scheduled to end April 30, has
been extended and expanded through June 30.

"Our customers clearly expressed their interest in the LTE
Elite/SmartStation promotion. They've responded in very positive numbers
to own the convenience of a powerful notebook computer combined with the
full functionality of a desktop PC," said Ross Cooley, senior vice
president, North America. "The extension and expansion of this promotion
allows us to provide an even greater value to our customers."

"This promotion offers savings that customers can touch," said Steve Wilk,
president of Branchburg, N.J.-based reseller TransNet (NYSE: TRNT).
"Compaq seems to be doing everything right to make their products
affordable and available."

The Compaq LTE Elite offers customers a wide range of features, options and
portability for today's mobile professional. In addition to unmatched
power and convenience, providing customers with the lowest total carrying
weight of any notebook computer in its category, the LTE Elite features
the industry's first built-in AC adapter.

The Compaq SmartStation delivers to customers full-function desktop
capabilities, including built-in Ethernet and SCSI connections, two
full-sized ISA slots, two half-height drive bays, 1024 x 768 video support
and a built-in spare battery charger all in one unit, as well as the
ultimate in Plug and Play convenience. The SmartStation's functionality
lets users dock their notebooks even while turned on, and its VCR-style
motorized latching mechanism assures fast, secure docking. Should the user
try to undock the notebook while applications are open, sensors send an
alert to prevent data loss.
