ChorusSoft Ships SMARTslip for Macintosh

April 26, 1995 -- Sunnyvale, CA -- ChorusSoft Incorporated today announced
the immediate availability of SMARTslip for Macintosh. SMARTslip is an
electronic routing slip that users can attach to documents they want to
distribute or route to their co-workers. Each participant in a document
flow uses SMARTslip to view the attached documents and read, annotate or
edit and take appropriate action by the click of a button. SMARTslip works
with any kind of document - word processing documents, spreadsheets,
electronic forms, electronic faxes, scanned in documents, multimedia
documents or any combination of the above. SMARTslip can be used to

* Approve documents like Expense Forms, Performance reviews,
  Engineering Change Orders, Newspaper layout;
* Review documents like Engineering Design, Product Brochures,
  Book Drafts, Legal Agreements;
* Gather opinions, for example, on whether to bring a candidate
in for an interview, hire a candidate, run a story or not, buy
  a product or not;
* Sign-up to interview a candidate, to speak at a meeting, to bring
a specific food item to a picnic, to use an equipment.

SMARTslip documents are transported using a electronic mail. The mail
systems supported in the current version are Microsoftr Mail from
Microsoft Corp., PowerTalkx/PowerSharex from Apple Computer Inc., and
QuickMailx from CE Software.

A companion product SMARTslip Tracker for Macintosh will be available in
the first week of May 1995. SMARTslip Tracker keeps track of SMARTslip
documents on a local area network so that the initiator of a Purchase
Request can determine its whereabouts at any time, who has seen it and who
still has to see it before that document flow is completed. The Tracker
requires a database from Canada-based EveryWare Development Corporation
called Butlerr.

Working with Third-Parties

Shana Corporation of Edmonton, Canada and ChorusSoft, Inc. have been
working together to incorporate SMARTslip technology in Shana Corp's
electronic forms product, Informedx. "We want Informed users to benefit
from the tremendous synergy between SMARTslip and electronic forms in
providing formflow and workflow solutions," said John Murphy, V.P.
Marketing for Shana Corp. "Based on the great results in the pre-release
phase, Shana Corp. looks forward to having Informed take full advantage of
SMARTslip."

In an effort to enhance workgroup collaboration, Milum Corp., of Austin,
Texas and ChorusSoft have been working together to leverage each other's
technologies. "We are excited about the potential of using SMARTslip with
our group scheduler, Office Tracker Prox," said Kelly Hayes, President
Milum Corp. "This is the kind of innovative technology that helps make our
users more productive by improving their workflow processes."

Feedback from Early Users

"TRW is migrating towards a paperless environment which requires a core set
of easy to use tools to display and route electronic documents for
comments, mark-ups and approval," said Dick Ivan, Systems Analyst at TRW,
Inc., Sunnyvale, California who has been beta testing SMARTslip over
QuickMail. "These tools must be easy to use, work across different mail
systems and make efficient use of networks and servers. ChorusSoft
provides a key component for the paperless environment with the
introduction of SMARTslip, an electronic routing slip. ChorusSoft makes
workflow collaboration easy to implement and supports the needs of ad-hoc
routing which everyone can use. The ability to set up electronic routing
slips which track progress automatically over the network not only
shortens the cycle time for approvals but the tracking data can also be
used to measure cycle time and lead to process improvements. The
combination of SMARTslip with Adobe Acrobatx portable documents and
Software Partners' mark-up software, Re:markx, provide the basic tools
required to implement a paperless infrastructure supporting our familiar
desk-top computers without the complexity and cost of using more expensive
high-end host based products which are difficult to implement."

"SMARTslip is an innovative product that offers an affordable solution to
the problem of document routing, " said Paul Gademsky, President -
International PowerTalk/PowerShare Users Group. " It is simple, easy to
use and will make a good organizational tool for users in a workgroup or
enterprise. SMARTslip adds value to PowerTalk/PowerShare by providing
message tracking and document distribution."
