New Music Internet World Wide Web Site Now Available from Apple

Music Videos, Interviews with Musicians, and Latest Information for
Interactive Music Developers Now Available on the Internet

CUPERTINO, California--March 27, 1995--Apple Computer. Inc. today launched
Quicklime On-Line, the company's new World Wide Web server. Quicklime
On-Line makes it possible for consumers to download and view Quicklime
software-based music videos, interviews with musicians, animations and
even games. QuickTime is Apple's cross-platform multimedia software that
makes it possible for users to view and edit video, music, text,
animations and other information on their computers. QuickTime On-Line
includes information about the hottest interactive music titles and in the
future is expected to feature excerpts from music videos from Warner Bros.
Records artists such as Tom Petty, REM and Van Halen.

Increasing numbers of musicians and music publishers are using QuickTime
and QuickTime VR, Apple's virtual reality software, to create interactive
music products. Artists using QuickTime can create interactive music
material that can be made available on-line, or in the form of enhanced
CDs--music CDs with the addition of multimedia content that can be played
on audio CD and computer-based CD-ROM players. Artists can also create
virtual concert hall tours or music videos.

In April 1995, QuickTime VR movies are expected to be publicly available
for the first time on-line. including virtual tours of the CBGB Club in
New York and the House of Blues in Los Angeles. QuickTime VR--short for
virtual reality--is Apple's software that lets a user view a photographic
or rendered representation of a scene and feel as if they were actually at
the scene. The software offers two kinds of experiences: a panoramic
technology that enables users to explore 360 degree scenes, and an
interaction technology that allow, users to pick up and interact with
objects.

Other attractions on QuickTime On-Line will include Addicted to Noise, the
Internet's music magazine that features live reports including digital
photos from concerts and events around the world. Some of the best rock
journalists and critics in the business contribute to Addicted to Noise.
Also available via QuickTime On-Line will be IUMA (Internet Underground
Music Archives), a service that makes music--often from new, unsigned
artists--available via the Internet.

QuickTime On-Line is also expected to include QuickTime 2.0 for Macintosh
and QuickTime 2.0 for Microsoft Windows for downloading at a cost of
US$9.95. In addition, the latest QuickTime developer information will be
available at no charge. The World Wide Web address for QuickTime On-Line

Consumers who want to create their own music videos will find helpful
information and tools on QuickTime On-Line. Tips on how to make movies
technical information and lists of products that support QuickTime will be
available.

New MoviePlayer 2.0 Also Available On-Line

MoviePlayer 2.0 is a new QuickTime application that features QuickTime VR
playback capabilities and lets users do "drag and drop" QuickTime movie
editing, including cutting and pasting text and video tracks and editing
music clips. In working with music clips, users can select between 42
different musical instruments. The cost for downloading MoviePlayer 2.0
will be US$14.95 when it becomes available. Downloading the MoviePlayer
2.0 along with the QuickTime 2.0 extensions for Macintosh and
Windows-based computers will cost US$19.95. Apple is expected to make the
new MoviePlayer 2.0 for Macintosh and Windows-based computers available on
QuickTime On-Line in April.

QuickTime On-Line reflects another step forward in Apple's initiatives in
exploring the use of the Internet for commerce. This will be the first
time that Apple makes electronically provided information for sale
directly over the Internet. Initially, QuickTime On-Line will use the
Internet payment system developed by First Virtual, which allows buyers
with credit cards to securely purchase information over the Internet Apple
is looking forward to learning from user response from this initiative,
and to evolving and innovating the QuickTime On-Line commerce services
based on user and market reaction.
