Apple Computer Sponsors PACT/Young America in its Quest to Defend the
America's Cup and Nurture Science in Schools

CUPERTINO, California--April 19, 1995--Apple Computer, Inc. today announced
that it has sponsored PACT 95, one of three U.S. teams vying to defend the
America's Cup with its boat, Young America. In addition to its highly
visible association with the sailing team, the company's sponsorship also
extends into the classroom through the Young America education program.
This program, which has already reached over 500,000 elementary and
secondary students, uses the power of the America's Cup race to inspire
students to learn more about science and technology.

"We applaud the 'can do' spirit of the PACT 95 team for their endeavors in
competitive sailing and in the classroom," said Mike Dionne, Apple's vice
president of Worldwide Marketing Communications. "Rarely does a
sponsorship come along that offers such an ideal fit for both parties. Not
only does Apple have an opportunity to participate in the largest
international sporting event of the year, but we're also associating
ourselves with a group that's dedicated to furthering the application of
technology in both sports and education."

PACT 95 evolved from the very successful Partnership for America's Cup
Technology which supported both U.S. teams in 1992. Today, the syndicate
is organized as an amateur sports, educational and research foundation,
and receives funding from a number of companies, including Lincoln
Mercury, Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and Unum
Corporation. Its strategy to win the Cup is based on leveraging today's
most advanced technology to deliver maximum boat performance. It then
harnesses the scientific and technological excitement of the America's Cup
competition and delivers it to school children to enhance their learning
experience.

"The America's Cup is more than a sailing or sporting event, it's also the
ultimate technology competition," explained John Marshall, president of
PACT 95. "We are very proud to bear the Apple logo on our boom as we
believe it stands not only for technology leadership, but also for
delivering more than a decade of innovation to the education process."

As a result of Apple's sponsorship, the company's logo will appear on Young
America's boom, on signage throughout the PACT 95 compound and sailing
craft, in a variety of educational materials and within the America's Cup
World Wide Web site. Competition to identify the U.S. contender for the
America's Cup is taking place this week in San Diego, California. The
America's Cup Match Race Series begins May 6.
