New York City Night Clubs Announce the New York Macintosh Music Festival

Festival to Include 14 New York City Clubs, Feature Live Bands and
QuickTime Interactive Music Showcase

NEW YORK CITY, New York--April 21, 1995--The most popular music venues in
New York City have announced a six-night festival of more than 400 musical
groups this summer to help promote the hottest, up-and-coming bands and
interactive music technologies. The participating clubs announced Apple
Computer, Inc. as the technology sponsor for the event. Impact
Entertainment Group NY created and negotiated the sponsorship for the
Festival.

The New York Macintosh Music Festival will take place from July 17-22 at 14
of New York's most popular downtown clubs including Irving Plaza, Knitting
Factory, Tramps and SOB's. Attendees may either buy an all-access pass to
every participating club during the six-night festival or attend single
events.

In addition to other technologies that will be part of an interactive
multimedia showcase at the event, Apple will bring QuickTime, its exciting
interactive multimedia software, to the live venues. Apple will show the
industry--the next generation of musical artists, music producers and
fans--a demonstration of different ways to experience interactive music
and how to use multimedia technologies to tap new markets and audiences.

The QuickTime interactive music showcase will demonstrate the latest trend
in interactive music, enhanced CDs. Enhanced CDs are regular audio CDs,
with the addition of multimedia content, that can be played on both audio
CD and computer-based CD-ROM players. Also shown will be the QuickTime
Music Toolkit, a set of tools designed to help artists create enhanced
CDs. The Toolkit allows artists to take existing media elements such as
lyrics, interviews, liner notes, and videos and easily combine them to
create listening experiences that go beyond anything ever attempted
before. The resulting interactive title provides consumers with an easy
way to experience multimedia along with their music and find out more
about their favorite artists.

Besides creating enhanced CDs, the QuickTime interactive showcase will
highlight the new creative possibilities offered by distributing
interactive music on-line. "The music industry is about to undergo some
profound changes with the growth of interactive multimedia technologies,"
says Paul Wollaston, group manager of Apple's New Media Division.
"Virtually every record label has its own World Wide Web site now and is
experimenting with distributing interactive music videos, band photos and
hosting electronic conversations with artists. Artists are even getting
direct feedback from their fans on new music that they are creating."

Apple looks forward to the event as a way of building the interactive music
industry. "Multimedia can greatly enhance live performances," says
Wollaston. "A band playing a live show in a New York club, for example,
could create a multimedia experience to let its fans get up on stage' and
see what it feels like to have played there from the perspective of being
behind the microphone."
