Apple Computer Extends Price/Performance Leadership of Power Macintosh to
the Education Market

Related Announcements Include New, Affordable Multimedia Computers for
Education and Enhanced Cross-Platform Offerings For Educators

CUPERTINO, California--April 3, 1995--Reaffirming its commitment to
providing the best products to the education market, Apple USA today made
a series of announcements that will bring a new class of power and
performance, as well as low-cost multimedia and cross-platform computing
capabilities, to K-12 schools. Collectively, the products represent the
integration of the latest technology from Apple, including PowerPC
technology, into the company's education product offering.

The core announcement is the Power Macintosh 5200/75 LC, the premier system
based on the PowerPC 603 processor, a member of the successful family of
PowerPC chips developed by Apple, IBM and Motorola. With this
introduction, Apple delivers its most powerful technology to educators and
students, along with a customized design and industry-leading
price/performance that make this affordable system ideal for the education
market.

Related announcements include several products designed to provide software
compatibility with DOS and Windows, deliver expanded multimedia
capabilities on Macintosh computers, and lower the cost of entry for
multimedia computing in the education market.

Dr. Terry Crane, vice president and general manager of Apple's K- 12
Education Division, said, "Apple has been committed to educators and
students for more than fifteen years. As part of this commitment we strive
to deliver the highest level of products, solutions and services to meet
the unique needs of schools. Our new products, which bring leading-edge
multimedia technologies to mainstream education at very affordable prices,
offer innovative ways for educators and students to teach and learn. The
new Power Macintosh 5200/75 LC is a great example of this. The combination
of Apple's products and programs helps educators enhance their teaching,
manage their schools and make learning more fun and engaging for
students."

Power Macintosh Goes Mainstream in Education

Power Macintosh has enjoyed strong sales since its introduction in March
1994. Apple recently announced it shipped its one millionth PowerPC-based
computer, achieving its goal early of selling one million systems within
the product's first year on the market.

Representing the high-end of the product line in education, Power Macintosh
computer sales have steadily grown over the last year to capture a
significant portion of the Macintosh computers sold to schools. With the
introduction of the Power Macintosh 5200/75 LC, educators can now get the
same high-end performance and capabilities, all at a low price point.
Apple expects the new Power Macintosh system to quickly become the leading
Macintosh computer sold to education.

Power Macintosh systems are supported by a strong base of third party
developers and a continually expanding number of software applications
optimized to take advantage of the PowerPC microprocessor. Since Apple
introduced the first Power Macintosh computer, more than 500 applications
have been optimized to take advantage of PowerPC technology.

More than 41 education software companies have developed over 100 education
software applications for the Power Macintosh, including leading vendors
such as: ABC/EA Kids, A.D.A.M., Broderbund, Edmark, Learning in Motion,
Logal, MECC and Claris. These software programs address the full range of
K-12 curriculum needs, as well as teacher productivity, administration,
libraries and communication solutions.

Donna Stanger, vice president of product development for Edmark Corp., a
leading developer of education software, said, "In our Imagination Express
line of products, we utilize new, proprietary technologies that really
draw children into a series of unique learning environments. These new
technologies demand the performance that a Power Macintosh delivers."

New Products Deliver PowerPC Technology, Low Prices, New Multimedia
Capabilities and DOS/Windows Compatibility

The new products introduced by Apple broaden the company's education
product line and bring new options and capabilities to the market. In
addition to new features, plug and play multimedia capabilities are
standard options with every Macintosh computer, meaning that all the
components necessary for multimedia computing are available for the
systems. Highlights of the new products include:
