SKYLINE/SATELLITE UPDATE INCLUDES NEW FEATURES

Award-Winning Package Adds Methods to Summarize and Track Network Data
Free Demo Version Now Available Via Internet!

Walnut Creek, CA--April 10, 1995--The AG Group today shipped version 1.1 of
its award-winning network monitoring package, Skyline/Satellite. The new
version includes several features to increase flexibility in data analysis
and presentation. These include the ability to specify a time range for
statistics, execute AppleScripts when alarms are triggered, explore more
details shown in summary windows, specify graph update periods, add
threaded background packet processing, and maintain a customized set of
graph colors for printing. Concurrently, the company made available a free
demonstration version via the Internet and other online services.

Skyline/Satellite is a network monitoring package that allows network
managers to archive and analyze network traffic patterns over time. The
package is comprised of two applications: "Skyline," a centralized,
graphical interface for analysis of network traffic and "Satellite", a
data collection application which can be run on the local computer with
the Skyline monitor or on remote Macintosh nodes.

New Features

- Time Range Details - A new icon in the granule details window allows the
user to specify an arbitrary time range for which he would like to view
nodes, protocols and subprotocols and their contributions to overall
network traffic.

- New Alarm Scripts - Satellite's alarms can now execute AppleScripts,
allowing users to define any number of actions at an alarm. An example
would be a script which generates and transmits an e-mail message about a
specific alarm condition. In addition, new alarm options have been added
to notify at the appearance of a new node or protocol.

- Node, Protocol and Error Histories - "Summary" windows containing lists
of nodes and protocols seen since a Satellite has been collecting can be
queried for a second layer of information. Double-clicking on a specific
node in a Summary window yields a bar graph depicting the nodes
communicating with the specified node and the protocols they used to
communicate. Double-clicking on a protocol will generate a list of nodes
using the protocol. Error Summary windows now provide a list of errors
which, when double-clicked, reveal a list of error sources.

- Cursor "Tracking" in Skyline Graphs - For any location on a Skyline
graph, the cursor "tracks" and displays a summary window describing the
time range of any bar and the absolute values of utilization, packet count
and byte count it contains.

- "Go To..." Function Revision - The "Go To..." function, which allows
users to scroll back in time and restore data from a previous period, has
been revised to increase speed of data retrieval and eliminate functional
problems.

- Special Color Printing Preferences - A new feature allows specification
of different sets of colors for backgrounds, bars, etc. for use when
printing. This feature allows users to colorize screen presentations with
dark or saturated backgrounds without having to change them to print.

- Smart Autoscaling - Users can scale multiple graphs simultaneously for
consistent side-by-side comparisons.

- Refresh Rate Control - Users can now specify the time intervals at which
the Skyline console updates with data from Satellites. Previously, each
Satellite's "granularity" setting determined how often the console's
display would be updated.

- Balloon Help - Skyline now includes Balloon Help for menu items to jump-
start novice users into fluency with the program.
