Zenith Data Systems begins shipping full line of high-speed wireless LAN
products

New Mobile Systems Group makes aggressive move into mobile connectivity
market with new CruiseLAN products

ATLANTA -- September 12, 1994 -- Zenith Data Systems has started shipping
the full CruiseLAN product line that provides wireless connection to a
local area network via a PCMCIA card, ISA adapter, or an access-point
bridge for nearly unlimited roaming capability. CruiseLAN is the premier
product line of the newest product group at ZDS, the Mobile Systems
Product Group. Along with a family of wireless remote computer devices ZDS
will soon announce, CruiseLAN will position the company as a preeminent
leader in the wireless mobile systems market.

"Mobility is becoming a key factor in the computing connectivity equation,"
said Alan Soucy, vice president, Mobile Systems Product Group. "Zenith
Data Systems' CruiseLAN family provides LAN connectivity without the
expense and difficulty of running wires to every device, and without
sacrificing performance, security, or the freedom of mobile computing.
Infrastructure products we are shipping today, and mobile devices which we
plan to introduce later this year will extend the value of PCs, LANs and
applications that are already in use."

CruiseLAN products are ideal for delivering connectivity at sites where
running physical cables is not feasible (buildings with asbestos
insulation), for quick workgroup setups (temporary workstations for
consultants), and where users need to access the network while roaming
(hospitals). CruiseLAN devices can be used to create a complete network or
extend the reach and convenience of existing wired networks.

Wireless CruiseLAN products give users 1.6 Mbps direct-connect performance
in client/server and peer-to-peer networks on a variety of network
operating systems and wired protocols, meeting the performance
requirements of most LAN applications. The CruiseLAN/PCMCIA Type II card
and CruiseLAN/lSA 16-bit adapter card offer high through put connectivity
for a radius of up to 500 feet in normal office environments and up to
1,000 feet in open spaces, and provide secured, multi-channel connection
capability. The CruiseLAN/Access Point acts as a wireless bridge, creating
an unlimited number of linked coverage cells through which wireless users
can roam.

ZDS Mobile Systems Product Group Takes the Lead

CruiseLAN marks ZDS' entrance into the burgeoning wireless mobile computing
market. Recognized as an innovator in the portable computer industry
offering the first portable with a backlit LCD and the first
battery-operated 386 portable, ZDS has charged its Mobile Systems Product
Group to continue the ZDS tradition and take the lead in mobile
computing.

"Just as ZDS lead the industry from the desktop PC to the portable, our
move to mobile is a natural," said David O'Connor, executive vice
president of ZDS' Worldwide Product Group.

"Our mission is to provide products and services that expand ZDS' computing
solutions beyond the stationary office to give people the flexibility to
be productive wherever they choose to work -- whether cruising the
corridors or collaborating in a conference room."

Wireless access to local area networks is a logical extension of the
company's emphasis on connectivity as a key feature built-in throughout
the ZDS desktop, server, notebook and small notebook product lines. With
the timely addition of the new mobile product line featuring
state-of-the-art technology at an affordable price, Zenith Data Systems is
uniquely positioned to supply and support seamless connectivity
solutions.

"Quality has always been our ticket to success, and Zenith Data Systems'
wireless LAN products are bound to set a new standard for spread spectrum
radio design excellence," said Soucy. "For the first time, this new
technology meets the demanding requirements of the office professional
through a combination of high-speed wireless performance, data security
and maximum connectivity range -- all at an affordable price."

"And CruiseLAN products are shipping NOW, making wireless connectivity a
reality today -- not a promise for tomorrow," he continued. "Over the
course of next year, ZDS will continue to deliver innovative wireless
products that extend the value of your computing investment."

CruiseLAN/PCMCIA

The CruiseLAN/PCMCIA card is a Type II card with a range up to 500 feet
(radius) in typical office environments and up to 1,000 feet in open
spaces. The card ships with ODI drivers for Novell NetWare 2.x, 3.x,. 4.x
and Personal NetWare; NDIS drivers for Microsoft Windows for Workgroups,
LAN Manager and Artisoft LANtastic. Notebooks and other PCMCIA Type II
compliant devices can be configured as wireless nodes on any of these
networks.

CruiseLAN/ISA

The ISA-bus CruiseLAN/ISA card is a 16-bit adapter card for desktop PCs or
servers. The spread-spectrum, frequency-hopping technology of the
CruiseLAN/ISA makes wireless LAN-capacity transparently secure, with both
hardware and software encryption. The product's 15-channel capability
allows multiple LANs to operate within the same physical space without
sacrificing performance.

CruiseLAN/Access Point

The CruiseLAN/Access Point serves as a wireless bridge, allowing users to
move beyond the initial range provided by the CruiseLAN cards. It delivers
an additional 500 feet of coverage in standard office locations, and up to
an additional 1,000 feet in open space environments. Multiple
CruiseLAN/Access Points can be linked together to provide transparent
cell-to-cell roaming for nearly unlimited, full-building wireless LAN
coverage.

The multi-channel approach of CruiseLAN/Access Point enables 15 independent
wireless LANs to operate within the same physical space, effectively
increasing the aggregate data traffic capacity of wireless LANs by 15
times. CruiseLAN/Access Point is also designed to optimize the performance
and reliability of hybrid wired/wireless LANs by filtering local packets
and only forwarding those meant for other network segments to reduce
network traffic.

Developed to Meet Industry Standards

In keeping with Zenith Data Systems' commitment to preserve customers'
investments, the CruiseLAN family of products incorporate the high-speed
frequency-hopping modulation technique approved by the IEEE 802.11
Standards Committee. With a CruiseLAN/ISA card or CruiseLAN/Access Point
installed on the network, the CruiseLAN/PCMCIA card can provide wireless
connection to the LAN at 1.6 Mbps, which meets or exceeds the performance
requirements of most LAN applications.

Pricing and Availability

The CruiseLAN/PCMCIA, CruiseLAN/ISA and CruiseLAN/Access Point are
currently available from all Zenith Data Systems resellers and field sales
account managers. The ZDS price for CruiseLAN/PCMCIA is $695,
CruiseLAN/ISA is $595, and CruiseLAN/Access Point is $1,895. Reseller
pricing may vary. CruiseLAN products have been tested with ZDS' broad line
of products including Z-STAR and Z-LITE notebooks, Z-SELECT and Z-STATION
500 desktop systems, and the Z-SERVER family of servers, as well as with a
number of third-party computers.
