OPTIKA INTRODUCES NEW IMAGE MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE FOR ENTRY-LEVEL IMAGING
APPLICATIONS

For First Time, Coveted High-End Imaging Services Now Widely Available

NEW YORK, September 20, 1994 -- Optika Imaging Systems, a leading developer
of document image, workflow and information management solutions, today
introduced an entry-level image management solution in booth #510 at the
1994 Imaging Expo Show.

The new software system, Frequent Filer version 3.0, is the first combined
development effort between Optika and TEAMWorks Technologies. Optika
acquired TEAMWorks in January of this year, integrating the two firms into
a powerhouse development team under the Optika banner.

Frequent Filer now combines high-transaction optical server technologies
from Optika with a robust set of imaging features from TEAMWorks. Frequent
Filer is targeted to users who require a full set of powerful imaging
functions without the complexities involved in multi-level index designs
and workflow tools.

Additionally, Frequent Filer provides users with multiple page display,
complex annotation capabilities, built-in optical character recognition
and an optional full-text retrieval engine. One of the product's most
distinct features is a single-level database for use with a wide variety
of SQL database servers. This direct indexing method readily emulates a
document-oriented filing system, making it easy to build and deploy
imaging applications.

Frequent Filer Rounds Out Current Product Line

With this product introduction, Optika expands its product offerings to the
entry-level segment of the document image marketplace. For the first time,
non-production caliber imaging users will have access to high-end imaging
technology, extending the life and volume parameters of desktop
applications.

"Over the past years, Optika has achieved a strong leadership position in
the production-oriented imaging and workflow market," said Ellen Rome,
Optika's vice president of marketing. "As the market for entry-level
imaging applications continues to thrive and diversify, we intend to grow
with it, strengthening our position through superior product offerings.
Until now, we have not had a product specifically developed to meet the
needs of the entry-level market. Frequent Filer is the first step in
achieving the comprehensive product plan we have outlined."

Optika's Business Solutions Partners will market Frequent Filer to
customers in need of an entry-level system while continuing to provide
Optika's MultiFiler/Finder document management system to users looking for
complete information management.

MultiFiler/Finder is the core technology used in all of Optika's workflow
management solutions and complex systems. MultiFiler/Finder is noted for
its multilevel or tiered indexing methodology, which is a requirement for
highly-structured information management applications.

Frequent Filer Adds Scalable Server Support

With version 3.0, Frequent Filer has integrated support for Optika's
FilePower Disc Server (FPdisc), an optical storage management subsystem.
FPdisc is a server-based software solution running under Microsoft Windows
which provides multi-user access to optical disks and jukeboxes for the
storage of images and data. FPdisc Server has been deployed in
applications ranging from entry-level to enterprise-wide, and is used in
all of Optika's imaging and workflow solutions.

"FPdisc Server is the cornerstone of Optika's FilePower family of document
management solutions," said Mark Schenecker, product manager for Optika
Imaging Systems. "Because the software is noted for its durability and
performance in high-capacity production-oriented applications, it provides
the flexibility and expandability to grow from entry-level to production
level systems, meeting a wide variety of volume and user demands."

Schenecker added that Optika has always been noted for the scalability of
its software, which can perform across a complete range of image
information management applications. "We realize that today's corporations
are looking for an information management solution that can grow as a
company's imaging processing requirements increase," he said. "Companies
do not want to deploy systems with finite capacity, instead they want a
solution that meets current projections as well as future requirements."

Pricing and Availability

Frequent Filer version 3.0 will be available in October, 1994. New users
can purchase Frequent Filer starting at $600 per seat. Current Frequent
Filer users on maintenance can receive a free software upgrade from
authorized resellers. The addon functionality of full-text and the
FilePower Disc Server will be sold separately. Users can obtain detailed
pricing information from a local Optika reseller. For additional product
information or the name of a local reseller, users can call 719/548-9800.
