INTUIT ANNOUNCES QUICKEN 5 FOR MACINTOSH

World's best-selling personal finance software is faster and easier than
ever with customer-driven innovations including the new Financial
Calendar

Menlo Park, Calif. --Sept. 26, 1994--Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ: INTU) today
introduced Quicken 5 for Macintosh, a significantly enhanced release of
its bestselling personal and small business finance software. Quicken 5
for Macintosh includes major enhancements such as the Quicken Financial
Calendar and other customer-driven breakthroughs in ease of use, time
savings, financial forecasting, tax planning, and investment tracking.

More than one million people use Quicken for Macintosh to manage their
finances. According to PC Data in Reston, Virginia, Quicken is the
top-selling Macintosh software of any kind in retail stores, and by far
the most popular Macintosh financial software, outselling by 5-to-1 all
other personal finance products combined.

"Intuit's mission is to revolutionize how people manage their finances,"
said Eric Dunn, general manager of Intuit's Personal Finance Division.
"People don't want to spend more time managing their finances - they want
to spend less. But they want to know where their money is going and plan
for the future. Quicken's goal is to make organizing finances painless,
and to give people the insight they need to achieve their financial goals.
Quicken 5 for Macintosh is a great example of our relentless efforts to
make organizing finances faster and easier. The new Financial Calendar -
driven by customer research - is the biggest breakthrough in Quicken since
we pioneered the checkbook metaphor."

Financial Calendar

In its customer research, Intuit found that many people use a paper
calendar to organize their finances. With the new Financial Calendar,
Quicken users can organize their finances the way they think of them - in
a familiar image of a monthly calendar that automates financial tasks and
helps people look ahead:

--Reduces Data Entry

Drag items from a list of previous transactions and drop them on any day.
Quicken categorizes the transaction, enters it in the register and updates
the account balance.

--Bill Payment on Auto-Pilot

Schedule recurring transactions in the Calendar (like mortgage payments or
auto loans); Quicken will automate them so you'll never have to enter them
again.

--Easy Organization

Get a monthly view of income and expenses. Enter transactions into the
Calendar with a single form for all your accounts. - Look ahead to plan
for future expenses.

Easier Than Ever

Here are a few of the new features that continue Quicken's legacy of ease
of use:

--Getting Started Screens

New orientation screens help first-time users get started in minutes.

--Iconbar

With the new Iconbar - the most requested feature for this release - users
can access the accounts and features they use most with one click.

--Improved Reconcile

Bank account reconciliation is even easier with a larger, sortable
reconcile screen that was designed through usability testing to be more
like bank statements.

--Question-based Help

Help topics have been restructured in the form of questions that users
might ask. Many of the questions come straight from Intuit technical
support lines.

--QuickenTips

To help people be more productive - especially if they never open the
manual - Quicken 5 provides practical, time-saving tips each time it
opens.

Save Even More Time

Quicken 5 adds innovative new features in the constant quest to save people
time:

--Enhanced QuickFill

One of Quicken users' favorite features, QuickFill slashes data entry time
by filling in a transaction after only a few keystrokes if you've entered
it before. Quicken 5 includes QuickFill enhancements to further reduce
typing

--Drag-and-drop

Stop typing! Drag a QuickFill transaction to a register. Drag a Category
onto an entry to re-categorize. Or drag a transaction into the Calendar.
It's fast and easy.

--QuickMath

Never leave Quicken to get a calculator again. The new QuickMath pop-up
calculator - with an editable "paper tape" - is available in any amount
field.

More Insight

New reports and financial forecasting give people more insight into their
finances:

-- QuickReport

QuickReport creates a report in seconds from any word or phrase. Find out
how much you've paid on telephone bills with a QuickReport on "Pacific
Bell". Or how much you've spent eating out with a QuickReport on "Dining".
It's the fastest, easiest way yet to get quick answers to questions about
your finances.

--Comparison Report

Use the new Comparison Report to show transactions this year compared to
last year (or any other period), making it easy to spot changes quickly.

--Financial Forecast

The new Financial Forecast projects future cash flow in a revealing graph.
Users can look ahead to spot problems or opportunities and experiment with
what-if scenarios to see the effect. Can they replace the refrigerator
next month? Make that down payment in six months? The Financial Forecast
provides the answers.

Improved Tax Planning

Quicken 5 users can make better tax-informed decisions with the new Tax
Planner. Using technology from Intuit's MacInTax, it estimates taxes based
on current Quicken information. Users can then modify values and compare
alternatives to evaluate the tax implications of major financial decisions
such as buying a home, selling stocks, or filing jointly vs. separately.
And improved Tax Links will make it easier to transfer information to
MacInTax at tax time.

Better Investment Tracking

Quicken 5 makes it faster and easier to update security prices. With
Quicken Quotes, users can instantly update all their security prices via
modem with a single click, using a CompuServe account or a "900" number.
Quicken Quotes automatically updates every security, for up-to-the-minute
investment reports.

Summary

Quicken 5 for Macintosh is not just a checkbook manager. It is a
comprehensive tool for managing people's finances--checking and savings
accounts, cash spending, credit cards, investments, loans, mortgages, tax
planning, and more. It provides insight with reports and graphs on any
aspect of people's finances, and empowers them to look ahead and plan
their financial future.

Quicken's goal is to make organizing finances painless - faster and easier
than any other way - and to give people the insight they need to achieve
their financial goals.

System Requirements

Quicken 5 for Macintosh will run on any Macintosh computer with a hard disk
drive. It requires 2MB of RAM for System 6 or 4Mb for System 7 or later. A
modem is required for Quicken Quotes. Quicken 5 runs on Power Macintosh
systems today and Intuit plans to release a native accelerated version in
