ArcanaTech announces release 1.2 of IMP driver software. This new release
adds additional auxiliary button support to permit executing Windows
functions like raising, lowering, minimizing, maximizing, or closing a
window, or launching/ending an application. This new functionality makes
it easier than ever to control Windows applications without touching the
keyboard or mouse. Users can easily navigate among online service options
without using constant cursor motion to access/hide windows on the
screen.

IMP is a sophisticated computer remote control that allows cursor
positioning as well as execution of user-programmable keyboard functions
at distances of up to 20 feet. IMP incorporates infrared signals for
communication and a specially developed pressure sensitive film for cursor
position encoding. Common mouse functions like pointing, clicking, and
dragging are all performed using IMP's unique, patent-pending control
disc technology. Keyboard functions are assigned to IMP's auxiliary
buttons through an easy-to-use software control panel.

Since IMP is hand-held, it does not require a dedicated flat surface or a
cord connecting it to the computer like a mouse or trackball. This gives
the user incomparable freedom and flexibility to interact with
IBM-compatible PCs in ways that are more comfortable, convenient, and
therefore more productive.

"IMP is not simply a replacement for the computer mouse, but an entirely
new way of interacting with the computer," said Jack Copper, president of
ArcanaTech. "The flexibility it provides makes it perfect for graphical
user interfaces such as Windows and Presentation Manager. In these
environments, Imp can effectively serve as a remote control for PC-based
multimedia systems, dynamic presentation graphics software, desktop video
conferencing, laboratory automation, and cruising the information
superhighway."

"We also believe that IMP will change the way groups, such as students and
teachers in a classroom, interact when working around one computer screen.
The absence of a connecting cord will allow computer control to flow
freely among participants without the awkward interruptions caused by
shuffling chairs," he said. "And you only have to get your coffee cup or
papers tangled in a wire once to realize the benefits of a wireless
device."

IMP consists of an ergonomically designed, light-weight, battery-powered,
wireless transmitter and a compact receiver that connects to a host
computer serial port. The transmitter contains the cursor control disc and
a switch for clicking, double-clicking, and dragging, as well as four
user-programmable auxiliary buttons which can act as keyboard keys. Cursor
speed and direction are controlled by light pressure on the control disc;
there are no moving parts to collect dust or fail. The receiver is powered
by the host computer, and contains indicator LEDs that reflect
communication activity and transmitter battery status.

IMP also supports multiple pointing devices simultaneously. Any Logitech or
Microsoft-compatible pointing device connected to the computer will be
recognized by IMP's driver and can be used with IMP.

IMP has a manufacturer's suggested list price of $199; however, for a
limited time online service users can purchase an IMP for only $150 plus
shipping and handling. Call 1-800-364 IMPS (4677) or send e-mail to
