HOCKWARE EXPANDS PRODUCT LINE WITH VISPRO/C AND VISPRO/C++

VisPro/C and VisPro/C++ are full-featured, low-priced visual programming
tools for OS/2 and support IBM's CSet compilers.

CARY, N.C., September 19, 1994 -- HockWare Incorporated today announced the
availability of VisPro/C and VisPro/C++. Modeled after VisPro/REXX,
HockWare's pioneering visual REXX programming tool for OS/2 2.x, VisPro/C
and VisPro/C++ are easy-to-use, object-oriented drag and drop programming
tools for IBM CSet compilers (CSet, CSet++ and CSet++ FirstStep) and User
Interface Class Library.

VisPro/C and VisPro/C++ allow application developers to quickly develop
OS/2 graphical user interface (GUI) programs. Both products have
extensive drag and drop programming capabilities; support an abundance of
user interface programming objects; are fully Workplace Shell integrated;
provide a built-in visual DB2/2 database designer; generate high-quality,
non-proprietary code; provide a custom object builder that is based on the
IBM System Object Model (SOM); and provide many other features that allow
programmers to develop 32-bit, multi-threaded, client/server
applications.

"IBM is pleased to see HockWare continuing to develop programming tools
that exploit the best that OS/2 has to offer," said David L. Harrington,
director of software development programs, IBM Personal Software Products.
"VisPro/C and VisPro/C++ take advantage of the OS/2 Workplace Shell to
provide a powerful yet easy-to-use application development environment.
The drag and drop mechanism and the use of the SOM model allow 32-bit,
multi-threaded applications to be developed at reduced costs."

"We have created a new class of front-end development tools for IBM CSet
compilers and the User Interface Class Library. VisPro/C and VisPro/C++
follow in the path forged by VisPro/REXX in that they give OS/2
programmers maximum functionality at a optimum price," said David Hock,
president of HockWare. "The release of these products continue our
mission which is to take the best advantage of OS/2 and other IBM
technologies to which thousands of companies have dedicated their
development resources."

Overview of key VisPro/C and VisPro/C++ functionality

** Workplace Shell-enabled drag and drop programming that automatically
generates code statements. Allows programmers to perform extensive
drag-and-drop maneuvers.

** Comprehensive set of CUA '91 objects supported from simple buttons to
the robust notebook object as well as additional objects not available in
similar tools: 3-D business graphics, formatted entry field, spreadsheet,
clock and calendar.

** Multiple development views provide programmers with a flexible
development environment. Views include the Layout, List, Event Tree and
Settings.

** Integrated environment for the compiler provides three features to speed
development: the Build Options Editor allows programmers to visually set
compiler and linker options; the Build Monitor enables programmers to
monitor the progress of compilation, linking and resource compilation; and
the Resource Editor allows programmers to easily define icons, bitmaps and
strings.

** Quality code generation provides well-structured code that is easy for
programmers to read and maintain. The non-proprietary, royalty-free C or
C++ code can be used outside of the VisPro development environment. Code
regeneration is supported for changes made to the events and code sections
outside of the VisPro environment.

** Visual database designer allows programmers to quickly create DB2/2
database applications or reverse-engineer their existing DB2/2 databases
using the entity/relationship (E/R) diagramming tool. The E/R diagramming
tool allows programmers to drag and drop tables and relationship links
into a layout view to generate complete database applications with
embedded Structured Query Language (SQL).

** Compatibility across all VisPro products. For example, programmers who
build an application in VisPro/REXX can import the user interface
resources to VisPro/C or VisPro/C++ and vice versa.

** Extensible environment with VisPro/Objects, which is a SOM-based
interface that allows programmers to create custom objects.

** VisPro/C++ provides a graphical class browser that allows programmers to
easily view the IBM User Interface Class Library and to drag methods from
the library and drop them directly into a VisPro/C++ program.

Special Introductory Pricing

Suggested retail pricing for VisPro/C and VisPro/C++ is $399 each. HockWare
is offering a special price of $199 each until November 30, 1994. All
HockWare products are available directly from HockWare or from software
resellers worldwide.

In April of 1993, HockWare introduced VisPro/REXX--the first OS/2 visual
REXX programming tool. VisPro/REXX fully exploits OS/2 2.x, the Workplace
Shell, CUA '91 objects, SOM and the REXX language. There are
two-commercially available products developed with VisPro/REXX: WatchIt by
Client Server Networking, a LAN performance analysis and management tool
for IBM LAN Server; and CS-Edit/2 by Multitask Consulting, a system
configuration editor. The products exemplify the robustness and stability
of VisPro/REXX. HockWare has headquarters in Cary, North Carolina (USA).
