"Guess Where I've Been - Around the World in 80 Days"

New CD-ROM Helps Young Learners Gain Literacy, Storytelling Skills

SAN MATEO, Calif., August 31, 1994 - We live by the stories we tell, and an
exciting new CD-ROM-based early reading program from EA*Kids, a division
of Electronic Arts, gives young learners a head start in the art of
storytelling.

Around the World in 80 Days: An EA*Kids Creative Reader engages children
from ages 5 to 8 in the storytelling process, and promotes the development
of reading comprehension, decision-making and storytelling skills.
Vocabulary and geography skills are also strengthened, as young learners
visit 11 countries on five continents.

The latest title in EA*Kids' Creative Reader series, Around the World in 80
Days follows last year's critically acclaimed Peter Pan: A Story Painting
Adventure, winner of the 1993 Parents' Choice Award. The magical Paintbox
Pals, who helped children direct events in Peter Pan, are reunited in
Around the World in 80 Days. Along with main characters Phineas Fogg and
Sidney, his sidekick monkey, kids -- with the help of the Paintbox Pals -
are engaged in trying to beat archrival Hogsbreath in a race around the
world.

The skill-building program features more than 30 animated scenes and
hundreds of interactive choices, allowing each young learner to navigate
his or her own way through the story in a different way every time. All
text is voiced, so even pre-readers can follow the story. And oh, the
places they'll go: children visit landmarks, interact with native
cultures, and even learn some foreign phrases. Features like "Hot Words"
and "Pun Facts" provide on-line vocabulary and opportunities to learn
geography along the way. With the power to replay their own customized
story, kids become active participants in the storytelling process.

Young learners will discover the joy of storytelling and build their
emerging literacy skills with this delightful new program from EA*Kids.
Around the World in 80 Days is available now on CD-ROM for the IBM PC and
the Macintosh and will have a suggested retail price of $49.95.
