DigiBoard Reduces Complexity and Cost of ISDN Connections

Minneapolis, MN, August 1, 1994 --- DigiBoard, a division of Digi
International, Inc., today announced DataFire ISDN LAN adapter, a new card
that includes all the hardware needed for connecting a PC to an ISDN line.
DataFire integrates an ISDN network interface card, NT1 (line terminator)
and power supply into a single unit reducing system complexity,
simplifying installation and lowering the cost of ISDN communications
hardware for PC users.

Eliminating the need to purchase an external NT1 and power supply saves
$250 - $400 per workstation. Lower cost, easier to install hardware makes
ISDN more appealing for individuals in remote offices and telecommuters to
use for high-speed LAN connections.

DataFire installs in the expansion slot of ISA-bus personal computers and
connects directly with a Basic Rate Interface (BRI) ISDN line. It supports
Microsoft Windows NT, Windows for Workgroups, and Novell NetWare operating
systems. DataFire works in conjunction with DigiBoard's PC IMAC and PC
IMAC/4 server solutions providing on-demand-dialing for transparent
operation, and supports DigiBoard's Link Optimizing Software which reduces
line charges by up to 60 percent. PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol) support
ensures interoperability with other BRI and Primary Rate Interface ISDN
devices. This facilitates connections with the Internet and other outside
resources.

"DataFire was designed to fill the need for personal high-speed LAN
connections," said Ham Mathews, general manager, DigiBoard Telecom Group.
"Its pricing is similar to that of a high-speed modem and it's so easy to
install, anyone can now use ISDN for fast remote connections."

DataFire will be available in September, 1994 through DigiBoard resellers.
List price is $595.
