Delrina Delivers Internet Messaging For The Masses In New WinComm PRO

SAN JOSE, CA and TORONTO, ONT -- September 30, 1994 -- Delrina Corporation
(NASDAQ:DENAF, TSE:DC) today announced the immediate availability of a new
version (1.1) of Delrina WinComm PRO, a powerful and easy-to-use
Windows-based on-line communications software package. WinComm PRO has
been upgraded with many new features and now includes Delrina Internet
Messenger, a full-featured, off-line electronic mail package that enables
users to easily connect to the Internet through almost any Internet
service provider. It has an easy-to-use graphical front end (GUI) for
sending, receiving and managing Internet e-mail.

The Internet is a vast collection of computer networks that now link
individuals in more than 100 countries. With connectivity estimated to be
growing by 20% a month, and an estimated 30 million people already
connected, the Internet has become the third largest communications
network behind the telephone system and cable TV, and an increasingly
important business tool. Much of the "hype" surrounding the Internet
revolves around products such as Mosaic and Gopher, which are utilities
that make it easier to navigate through the maze of Internet servers to
hunt for information -- called "surfing". However, the exchange of e-mail
messages with other Internet users, whether for business or personal
correspondence, is by far the most common and practical activity for the
majority of users.

In a recent survey of over three hundred InfoWorld readers on their
thoughts about the information superhighway, one-third (28.9%) cited
electronic mail as the most vital application today, and half those
surveyed (50.8%) cited e-mail to be the foremost application they would
use three years from now (InfoWorld, September 26, 1994 Enterprise
Computing Section: Special Report). The Internet is viewed as one of the
lanes for exchanging messages on the information superhighway. "Electronic
mail on the Internet has an enormous practical benefit and we want to
provide customers with a robust messaging capability in a package that is
easy to install and use," said Delrina president Mark Skapinker. "Making
connectivity to the Internet simple enough for the average person is the
essential component. Internet Messenger is designed to become for the
Internet, what WinFax has become for PC faxing."

Internet Access for the Masses -- Historically, in order to connect to the
Internet to send and receive e-mail messages, users have to configure
terminal communications software based on TCP/IP protocols, a complicated
set of networking conventions akin to setting up a computer network. The
average user does not have the expertise or resources to configure TCP/IP.
Internet Messenger does not use TCP/IP, but provides connectivity through
a terminal "shell" account making connecting to any Internet service
provider over a phone line simple and easy.

"I use Internet Messenger to distribute information to our customers," said
Roger Yee of DSI Group, a Beta tester of WinComm PRO 1.1. "We provide
customized database development and consulting services and it is
essential that we have a link to our customers over the Internet. The
installation of Internet Messenger and connection to the Internet was
simple and straightforward. I was able to start working immediately after
installing the software, composing my documents off-line then connecting
to the Internet to distribute the messages."

Easy Connectivity to the Internet -- Internet Messenger includes a database
list of over 30 service providers organized by area code. The database
appears on start up. To select an Internet service provider, the user
simply clicks on their area code, chooses one of the service providers
listed, and Internet Messenger automatically dials in to register them.
For service providers that do not have on-line registration, a telephone
number is provided for the user to call in and register by voice. Once
registered, a user will have a name and password, and they can immediately
begin sending and receiving e-mail on the Internet. There is no
configuration required beyond entering a user name and password once. For
connecting to service providers not listed in the initial release of
Internet Messenger, a scripting language and script recorder in the
product enables more advanced users to develop or modify existing scripts.
Delrina is also providing updated lists through its Bulletin Board System
(BBS), with a predefined session in WinComm PRO that automatically dials
in and downloads new scripts.

"The biggest hurdle someone faces getting on the Internet, is getting on
the Internet. Setting up the complicated configurations to actually get
connected is very intimidating and requires a fairly high level of
technical understanding," said Judith Rosall, research director for the
Electronic Messaging Program at International Data Corporation in Mountain
View, CA. "Delrina Internet Messenger removes all the complexity by
providing the necessary configurations under-the-covers. It has the
potential to deliver Internet e-mail to the masses."

Robust and Easy to Use E-Mail Messaging -- Internet Messenger provides a
graphical user interface for off-line e-mail processing. Users can
compose, reply, forward and file messages in much the same way they do
with any leading e-mail package. When replying to a message for example,
users can Cc: or Bcc: (carbon-copy or blind carbon-copy) their message to
other recipients, which can be selected from the address book. Contents of
the original message can be automatically included with a click of a
button, and the message text is automatically formatted (i.e. word wrap
and line wrap).

A signature can also be appended to the message with a single mouse click,
and the contents of the e-mail can be spell-checked with the built-in
spell checker. Internet Messenger also supports attachments through MIME
(Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) and UUEncode/UUDecode (a method of
encoding and decoding binary files for transmission from one system to
another) so files from any application, such as a spreadsheet, word
processing document or electronic form, can be included along with the
message.

File Replication and Synchronization -- Internet Messenger messages are
composed and managed off-line, and transmitted and received in batch. The
software also has the ability to maintain replicated copies of the user+s
Inbox, sent and received messages, and file folder structure on the
Internet service provider+s host computer. This enables the user to dial
in from multiple PCs -- for example, a computer in the office and a second
one at home -- and have all their messages and files synchronized between
the various systems. This also acts as an automatic backup of the user+s
system.

Direct Internet E-Mail Saves Money -- Although popular on-line services
like CompuServe and America On-Line have Internet gateways so subscribers
of those services can exchange Internet e-mail, there are additional costs
associated for accessing the Internet, which are relatively high. Users
typically pay an extra charge on top of their subscription and more for
each message they send and receive. Internet service providers typically
charge a low monthly flat fee with unlimited access. Internet Messenger
supports many service providers, which are listed in the database, so
users can also shop for the service provider that best meets their needs.

WinComm PRO is a powerful Windows-based on-line communications package that
supports all popular terminal emulation, file transfer protocols, and
hundreds of modems. WinComm PRO has made on-line communications easy to
use through its advanced terminal interface, which features split screen
session windows with right-mouse click context sensitive menus,
drag-and-drop customizable phonebooks with intuitive icons, a built-in
recorder, and a 5,000-line back-scroll buffer that saves data between
sessions.

New Features in WinComm PRO -- In addition to Internet Messenger, WinComm
PRO itself has also been upgraded with many new features that were a
direct result of customer feedback. Listed below are some of the new
enhancements.

* An on-line GIF (Graphic Image File) Viewer has been added so users can
view a graphic file as its being downloaded.

* WinComm PRO now supports sound (WAV files), so unique sounds can be
associated with various communications events, such a "bell" sound to
indicate the completion of a download.

* Many of the menus in WinComm PRO 1.1 have been reorganized to improve
usability.

* Options are now included to change the terminal colors and redefine the
number of terminal rows and columns. These options can also be modified
while connected on-line in mid-session. A Terminal (AT) Mode has also been
added so users can run a manual communications session by typing in direct
modem commands.

* Security has been enhanced. To prevent unauthorized use, a password can
protect the launching of WinComm PRO, or after it has been launched and
minimized.

* The Kermit protocol has been enhanced to support longer packets.

* Users switching from Crosstalk or Comit/MicroLink to WinComm PRO can now
import their existing phonebooks. WinComm also imports Procomm and Procomm
Plus phonebooks.

* WinComm PRO now supports Rockwell RPI, also known as v42bis compression,
via a .DLL.

"Until now, if you walked into a computer store and asked for something
that would connect you to the Internet, the vendor would likely sell you a
book," said Marc Camm, director of On-line Products at Delrina, and former
Systems Group product manager for Microsoft. "By including Internet
Messenger in WinComm PRO, novice users can pick up a package off the
shelf, install it, select a local Internet service provider from the
program, and begin sending and receiving electronic mail immediately. They
will never have to read a single technical manual or invest countless
hours trying to understanding computer networking."

Internet Messenger is an integral part of WinComm PRO 1.1 and is included
in the package which retails for $129 ($159 Cdn). For users who want a
total communications solution there is Delrina Communications Suite
(updated to version 2.1). It combines the full-featured fax capabilities
of WinFax PRO 4.0 and WinComm PRO 1.1 with Internet Messenger, and lists
for only $179 ($239 Cdn). Unlike other communications products, like
Procomm Plus that adds a rudimentary fax capability with its on-line
communications component, Delrina Communications Suite is the only product
that combines full-featured, integrated, best-of-breed fax and on-line
communications software in a single package. In addition, Delrina is also
offering a WinComm PRO competitive upgrade from Procomm or any other
communications package for only $49 ($65 Cdn). Customers, who purchased
WinComm PRO or the Delrina Communications Suite on or after September 1,
1994 can contact Delrina directly for a free upgrade.

Delrina develops, markets and supports PC-based software products and
