CYCLEMANIA HITS THE ROAD AND IT'S HOTTER THAN THE ASPHALT

-First CD-ROM Motorcycle Game Created Using Real Digitized Roads-

Pricing and Availability: CD-ROM $59.95; September,1994

SAN JOSE, CA - August 29, 1994--Moving faster than
fast...Electrifying...Knee scraping asphalt...Intensity...it!s Cyclemania
from Sport Accolade. High tech motorcycle roadway racing comes to CD-ROM
with the first personal computer action game to incorporate real
background video footage into a virtual gaming experience. The
high-intensity, behind-the-racer game incorporates more than 400 megabytes
of digitized roads and scenery synchronized to the speed of the rider for
a closer-than-close riding experience.

With total bike control and obstacles galore, players snake down five
treacherous roads on one of six blazing bullet bikes. Players compete in
single or marathon races against the seasoned computerized opponents while
avoiding obstacles, such as on-coming traffic and cycle cop patrols. As
players win the real footage races, they can use prize money to obtain
high tech add-ons to customize their bike. Crash scenes are authentic in
look and sound, but if a player crashes too much, an ambulance sceeches
by, collects the player off the asphalt and whisks him away with sirens
blasting. "Each three minute race is a pure video game simulation at its
best," said Pete Pavich, the game's producer. "You can almost feel the
wind in your face as the racers scream down the open road."

Technical Know How

Cyclemania combines new video compression, special road mapping algorithms
and digitized video to create a new look and feel for this racing game. A
proprietary video compression scheme was developed in order to create the
visual sensation of acceleration and braking. In order for traffic and
obstacles to look real from the rider's perspective, a road mapping
program and special algorithms were developed to combine the real footage
with the overlaid graphics for a seamless presentation. To create optimum
road-to-road angles and moves, a film crew collected the video footage by
mounting a miniature camera onto the exterior of a car. The result: a
realistic motorcycle ride from a behind-the-handle bars perspective. And
to complement the entire experience, a synthesized music score was
orchestrated to emphasize the excitement of the game.

System Configuration Requirements

The minimum system requirements are: 386/25mhz, DOS 5.0, SVGA video card
capable of supporting 256 colors at 640 x 480 resolution, MPC compatible
sound card, 4MB RAM, CD ROM drive, and mouse or joy stick.
