ASANTE FURTHER EXPANDS MACINTOSH CONNECTIVITY LINE WITH NEW ADAPTERS FOR
POWERBOOKS AND POWERBOOK DUOS

Leading Macintosh Connectivity Provider Offers Solutions for Every
Macintosh on the Market

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Asante Technologies, Inc., (NASDAQ: ASNT), the number
one developer of networking hardware and software for Macintosh, announced
the Micro EN/SC adapter for PowerBooks and the NetDock adapter for
PowerBook Duos. These products, in addition to Asante's FriendlyNet media
adapters shipping this month, offer a complete family of Ethernet
connectivity solutions for every Macintosh PowerBook, including the
recently announced PowerBook 520 and 540 series.

Asante's new Micro EN/SC and NetDock adapters were designed to offer
portable Apple Macintosh users a simple plug-and-play solution when
connecting to thin and/or 10BaseT Ethernet networks. Asante's new products
are unique in that they are the smallest adapters on the market --
literally fitting into your pocket, and they require no external power
supply.

Asante Adapter Family

"The mobile computing revolution has eliminated dependence on desktop
environments and has given users a variety of products to interface with,"
said Bruce Stancombe, senior manager of Asante's client access products.
"By creating a complete line of high-quality connectivity products for
every type of Macintosh, users can turn to Asante to find the exact
Ethernet solution to meet their networking needs."

Micro EN/SC Adapter

The Asante Micro Ethernet-to-SCSI adapter, weighing less than 4 ounces and
measuring only 3 inches by 2.5 inches by 1 inch, is ideal for mobility.
The compact device provides an instant Ethernet connection to a
PowerBook's SCSI port without additional SCSI cables; the HDI-30 connector
is built in. The Micro EN/SC also includes a new power design which draws
DC power directly from the machine's ADB port, eliminating the need for an
external power supply. Status LEDs provide instant feedback on the network
connection. The Micro EN/SC will be available in two versions: one for
10BaseT and a combination unit for 10BaseT and 10Base2.

NetDock Adapter

Asante's NetDock adapter delivers the most convenient means of connecting a
PowerBook Duo to a 10BaseT Ethernet network. By plugging into the Duos
high-speed PDS connector, the NetDock adapter gives users the freedom to
connect their machines to 10BaseT Ethernet LANs without having to use
their normal docking station at their desk. The new adapter contains an
ADB port that allows users to add a mouse and full-size keyboard. The
NetDock also provides a convenient slot for connecting to a Kensington
security cable. A Duo user can plug a security cable into the NetDock to
ensure the machine is not removed.

The Asante Micro EN/SC and NetDock adapters support the following network
operating systems and protocols: AppleShare, TOPS, NetWare, TCP/IP, 3Com
3+Open, DECnet and DEC Pathworks. The following servers are also
supported:

AppleShare

3.0.1, AppleShare 4.0, Novell NetWare 3.11, Netware 4.0, and Netware 4.0.1.

FriendlyNet Media Adapter

The FriendlyNet media adapter easily connects any Macintosh, Power
Macintosh, PowerBook 520 and 540, IBM PC-compatible or printer with a
built-in (AAUI) Ethernet port to 10BaseT, thick or thin coaxial LANs.
Weighing less than 4 ounces, the adapter's new compact design is ideal for
both portable and desktop applications. Other special features include
status LEDs for convenient network monitoring as well as a one-meter cable
that allows users to place the device on the desktop or floor.

Pricing/Availability

The Micro EN/SC and NetDock adapters are backed by a five-year warranty and
will be available in June 1994. The FriendlyNet media adapter has a
lifetime warranty and is shipping now. All products offer free technical
support.
