Apple and Adobe Announce Bundling of Acrobat 2.0 Software with Selected
Macintosh Systems

Will Allow Macintosh Users to More Easily Access and Use the Growing Number
of Electronic Documents Available on CD-ROM, Online Services, and Other
Digital Media

SAN FRANCISCO, California--September 13, 1994--Apple Computer, Inc. and
Adobe Systems Incorporated announced today that they have signed an
agreement to include Acrobat Reader 2.0 software with selected Macintosh
systems by the end of the year. The Adobe Acrobat product family allows
users to create electronic documents that can be viewed, searched, or
printed from virtually any computer or printer, regardless of the original
authoring application or platform.

With Acrobat Reader 2.0 software, Macintosh users will be able to view,
navigate and print any electronic document in Adobe's Portable Document
Format (PDF), an open file format created by Acrobat software that
maintains the look and feel of documents across computer platforms. The
agreement will allow Macintosh users to take immediate advantage of the
increasing amount of content being made available in PDF via on-line
services, the Internet and CD-ROM.

This announcement reaffirms Apple's commitment to providing cross- platform
solutions which allow its customers to work in mixed computing
environments. "Customers have been telling us that they need robust,
enterprise-wide, cross-platform standards for application integration. We
believe that today's announcement is an important step in this direction,"
said Michael Spindler, Apple president & chief executive officer. "We are
pleased to be working with Adobe, which has been an active and creative
participant in the Macintosh marketplace from the very beginning."

"Apple and Adobe have long been allies in developing publishing solutions
that make it easier for our customers to create and distribute visually
rich information," said John Warnock, chairman and chief executive
officer, Adobe Systems. "This agreement is an example of how we are
continuing to help customers take advantage of the growth in electronic
publishing and electronic media. Macintosh users can now use and share
richly formatted documents without the barriers of incompatible
technology."

Acrobat Reader 2.0 will be bundled on selected Macintosh systems, including
PowerBook computers, which are configured with a minimum of 5Mb RAM.
Customers purchasing such systems will be able to upgrade to Acrobat 2.0
software, which allows users to create, view, modify and search electronic
documents across platforms, at a special promotional price. Acrobat
Reader 2.0 software is expected to be available on Macintosh systems
starting December 1, 1994 in English, German, French, Italian and Dutch
language versions.
