Solectek Announces AIRLAN CAN
(Campus Area Network)

New Products -- AIRLAN/Access and AIRLAN/Bridge Plus -- Permit Untethered,
Seamless, Wireless Communications up to 25 Square Miles

SAN DIEGO, CA -- September 12, 1994 -- Solectek Corporation today announced
its wireless AIRLAN CAN (Campus Area Network), a suite of products which
enable PC/laptop users to roam and communicate at full network speeds
throughout their entire "campus" regardless of size. AIRLAN CAN
incorporates newly announced AIRLAN/Access and AIRLAN/Bridge Plus with the
full line of AIRLAN wireless adapters, enabling computer users to
affordably connect to a wired local area network (LAN) or to a completely
wireless LAN.

"Solectek's AIRLAN CAN wireless LAN products have been developed to satisfy
the need for business PC and laptop computer users to communicate
'wirelessly' at full network speed--and without recurring costs--over five
doors, five floors or five miles or more," says James DeBello, President
and CEO, Solectek Corporation. "AIRLAN CAN offers instant, untethered
network communications for any type of work environment. For full
bandwidth wireless networking at a satisfying speed, AIRLAN CAN is the
only choice to make."

Unlike today's Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN) that require recurring
tariff charges, AIRLAN CAN offers a high-speed, full bandwidth alternative
with no monthly charges. AIRLAN CAN is ideal for campus-type installations
such as hospital complexes, large manufacturing facilities, industrial
sites or government complexes, making it the right solution for corporate
headquarters, office buildings, retail locations, warehouses and other
locations in which mobile users need high-performance network
connections.

Two new products have been introduced to fully implement AIRLAN CAN --
Solectek's AIRLAN/Access and AIRLAN/Bridge Plus.

* AIRLAN/Access is a wireless access point to a wired LAN which creates a
wireless roaming range, or "cell," for wireless workstations. It is,
essentially, a wireless hub that offers roaming capabilities. Each
AIRLAN/Access supplies an area of 50,000 square feet in a typical office
environment, enabling mobile users throughout the area to access the
network. AIRLAN/Access' software provides roaming capabilities by
automatically switching addresses from one access point to another as
signals weaken, allowing mobile users to roam freely while maintaining a
seamless connection to the network.

10BaseT and coaxial connectors provide instant access anywhere on an
existing wire backbone, enabling any AIRLAN equipped PC or notebook within
800 feet to be instantly linked to the network. Built-in configuration
software makes AIRLAN access easy to install and use.

* AIRLAN/Bridge Plus is a powerful wireless bridge for linking AIRLAN users
at full network speeds in separate buildings miles apart. Unlike the
present AIRLAN/Bridge offering, AIRLAN/Bridge Plus includes a new Base
Station Protocol allowing multiple buildings to be linked through a single
unit. AIRLAN/Bridge Plus also offers enhanced throughput--20% faster than
AIRLAN/Bridge--and advanced filtering, with reliable link protocol for
guaranteed packet delivery.

AIRLAN/Bridge Plus is the easiest way to link LAN segments three or more
miles apart. AIRLAN advanced antenna systems achieve links of even greater
distances. Solectek's Spread Spectrum radio technology eliminates the need
for expensive leased lines and underground cabling projects. The device
costs less than a T1 bridge and performs up to 40 times faster than leased
lines. Easy to move, AIRLAN/Bridge Plus enables a user to quickly extend a
LAN without costly rewiring costs.

AIRLAN/Bridge Plus has menu-driven diagnostic software for easy
installation and alignment of antennas, as well as Simple Network
Management Protocol (SNMP) software which allows network administrators to
perform remote management functions by monitoring the status of nodes from
their desks.

AIRLAN/Bridge Plus can be used with AIRLAN wireless adapters and
AIRLAN/Access points to supply blanket wireless connectivity for an entire
Campus Area Network (CAN). AIRLAN/Bridge Plus supplies the "wireless
backbone," while the AIRLAN/PCMCIA and AIRLAN/Parallel mobile adapters
allow users to roam freely throughout the campus area and maintain a
seamless LAN link.

Both products reflect the Solectek's AIRLAN CAN concept--to use the
benefits of wireless technology to provide network communications for any
type of work environment. Larger than a traditional LAN (local area
network), smaller than a WAN (wide area network), and less costly and more
efficient than a MAN (metropolitan area network), Solectek's AIRLAN CAN
wireless networking products are designed to facilitate mobile, high-speed
wireless campus area networks--whether the setting is multiple floors,
through a single building or in separate buildings miles apart.

AIRLAN CAN is one of the only ways to remotely access computer data within
a large campus environment without the need to rely on costly and slow
satellite network services, or fixed access telephone lines--enabling
users of PC/laptop networks to communicate "wirelessly" over an area as
large as 25 square miles, a feat previously impossible with existing
cable-based tethered data links.

Solectek is widely known for its suite of cost-effective, wireless LAN
products, including mobile adapters (AIRLAN/Parallel and PCMCIA), desktop
adapters (AIRLAN/Internal), access points (AIRLAN/Access), and multi-point
wireless LAN data links between multiple buildings located up to three
miles apart (AIRLAN/Bridge Plus). AIRLAN products use Spread Spectrum
radio technology, operating within 902-928 megahertz. AIRLAN products
offer a data rate of two megabits per second, and are compatible with
Ethernet standards and all major LAN operating systems. The entire AIRLAN
product family, including AIRLAN/Access and AIRLAN/Bridge Plus, is
compatible with all DEC and AT&T GIS wireless products. Toll free support
is available.

AIRLAN/Access will be available in October, 1994, and will be offered
through retail channels for $2499. AIRLAN/Bridge Plus will be available in
September for $5499. Existing AIRLAN/Bridge users may purchase an
AIRLAN/SNMP upgrade for $699.

Solectek, headquartered in San Diego, specializes in wireless products, and
offers a full suite of mobile and wireless campus computing products,
including AIRLAN/Internal, AIRLAN/PCMCIA, AIRLAN/Bridge Plus,
AIRLAN/Access, and recently released AIRLAN/Parallel. For additional
