Books That Work Introduces 3D Landscape:
The Complete Do-It-Yourself Landscape Design Solution

New Multimedia Software Program is the Ultimate Tool for Visualizing,
Planning and Designing a Landscape

PALO ALTO, Calif., Sept. 6, 1994--Books That Work today released 3D
Landscape, the most sophisticated and comprehensive interactive landscape
design tool available for the PC. With the click of the mouse, 3D
Landscape enables anyone to create a landscape design for a yard, complete
with trees and shrubs, patios and walkways. The program shows the design
in high-quality 3D renderings and automatically generates a building
materials list that calculates costs. 3D Landscape also includes a
multimedia electronic book developed by the award-winning editors at Books
That Work. The book provides a complete guide to landscaping principals
and techniques. This Windows program is available nationwide for around
$50.00.

Creating the Design

3D Landscape is like having a landscape architect inside a personal
computer. The program allows users to lay out their home and yard on
screen and even design a fantasy garden layout. An extensive Landscaper's
Notebook offers users page after page of garden objects to choose from,
including plants, trees, walls, walkways, decks, gazebos and even
sprinklers. These can be added by simply dragging the object onto the
design.

Complete Materials List

The program instantly calculates the exact quantity needed to complete a
job. 3D Landscape's Price Estimator automatically estimates the cost of
different landscaping designs, which can be printed out and taken to a
local supplier.

Viewing the Design in 3D

3D Landscape features modeling technology that surpasses all other
landscape design programs. The program comes with a variety of
visualization buttons that enable users to see how a design really looks.
3D Landscape instantly translates plans into full-color 3D representations
by a simple click of the mouse. The Aging feature demonstrates how the
yard will look as it matures, while the Shadow Casting feature shows how
shadows will fall in the yard anytime of the day or year.

Extra Help

3D Landscape's Electronic Book covers forty common landscape building
projects, from installing a simple walkway to a constructing a garden
gate. The book uses text, animation, photographs and sound to teach the
basics of landscape design and layout, as well as specific techniques
needed to implement customized designs. 3D Landscape also explains how to
hire and work with professional contractors.

The Electronic Book is just as easy to use as the design section of the
program. Simply use the mouse to click though the "pages" of the book,
while easy-to-identify icons indicate step-by-step instructions, safety
tips, and even information on where to turn for more advice. Important
concepts are displayed as "hot text" -- click on the word and a more
detailed explanation will pop up. Instructions include animation's,
showing step-by-step details of how to perform tasks.
