TRIP HAWKINS TO KEYNOTE OCTOBER HOLLYWOOD 2000 CONFERENCE IN LOS ANGELES

August 22, 1994- Carmel Valley, CA- Trip Hawkins, President and Chief
Executive Officer of The 3DO Company, will keynote the second day of the
Hollywood 2000 conference to be held October 17-18, 1994 at the Sheraton
Universal Hotel in Los Angeles. As founder and former chairman of
Electronic Arts, Hawkins was a central player in the creation of the
interactive entertainment market in the 1980s. Having developed some of
the most cutting-edge early entertainment titles for the desktop, EA was
among the first U.S. developers to embrace the 16-bit power of Sega
Genesis upon its release. Hawkins and EA, along with partners that
include AT&T, Time Warner, Matsushita and MCA, then founded The 3DO
Company to develop and market the industry's only open standard set-top
platform. Currently, 3DO is leading efforts to revolutionize the types of
programming that can be delivered via interactive media. At Hollywood
2000, Hawkins will outline his views on the impact new tools and new
program types will have on the future of the entertainment business.

The Hollywood 2000 conference will cover the changes sweeping the media
marketplace and will feature executives in the film, video, cable, TV and
interactive multimedia industries from such companies as Ameritech,
Microsoft, Paramount, MCA Universal , Blockbuster Entertainment, Virgin
Interactive and The Musicland Group to name a few. Panels will cover the
dominant issues in the interactive multimedia and entertainment industries
including, programming the digital technology revolution, television's
new capabilities, the platform debate, the current multimedia investment
market and the opportunities being born out of today's technology
convergence.

"Hollywood 2000 will help attendees profitably navigate the complexities of
new and existing technologies and distribution pipelines to bring the
filmed-entertainment experience to the consumer," said David Allen Shaw,
