ALADDIN SYSTEMS ANNOUNCES DESKTOP TOOLS

Macworld Expo, Boston (August 3, 1993) -- Aladdin Systems today announced
Aladdin Desktop Tools, a set of eight system utilities that give users a
better way to organize and manage their everyday desktop functions and
chores. Aladdin Desktop Tools accelerates and streamlines basic file
management and Finder activities such as trashing, printing, copying,
opening, and closing.

"Users have been asking for a way to customize, organize and streamline
everyday time consuming, but necessary desktop functions. This package
will give users all the utilities they need in one easy-to-use package,"
said David Schargel, president of Aladdin Systems.

The Aladdin Desktop Tools package is comprised of the following
time-saving, Desktop-enhancement tools:

DESKTOP SPEEDBOOST eliminates the long wait during the three most basic
chores: copying, duplicating, and trashing items. Desktop SpeedBoost
accelerates all of these operations while giving users more flexibility.
Users can copy multiple files, folders, or disks simultaneously, empty the
trash while duplicating a file or folder, and copy files in the background
while working in the Finder or any application. Desktop SpeedBoost is
based on the popular SpeedyFinder7 utility.

DESKTOP SHORTCUT allows users to find and open files instantly. This
feature gives users a direct route to priority files and folders by
placing them together in one menu in every Open and Save dialog. Users can
also search for lost files by name or revision date, even if they are
located in StuffIt archives.

DESKTOP PRINTER creates printer icons and allows users to switch printers
instantly. This feature allows users to print to any output device in one
step by dragging the document onto one or more printer icons. Users can
also set the current printer by simply double clicking on the icon without
ever going to the chooser.

DESKTOP MAKEOVER makes the Desktop more useful by adding a number of handy
conveniences to the Finder. This utility makes files accessible to users
even if they don't have the application of origin; the "Application can't
be found" alert is changed to "How do you want to open this document?".
Users can also rename files and folders without delay. In addition,
diskette icons display the disk size and whether the disk is locked or
not. Desktop Makeover also offers Balloon Help enhancements. Desktop
Makeover is based on the popular SpeedyFinder7 utility.

DESKTOP MAGICTOOLS adds a menu full of useful tools to the Finder. This
utility lets users copy or move a selection of files or folders into any
destination folder without opening windows, get more information than the
Finder's "Get Info" provides, and have new aliases automatically placed
into specific locations. Desktop MagicTools is an extension to the Magic
Menu which is included in this package.

DESKTOP SECUREDELETE securely erases sensitive files. Since file recovery
programs are very good at recovering trashed files, Desktop SecureDelete
not only trashes them, but renders them unrecoverable from file recovery
utilities.

DESKTOP TOYS lets users replace boring icons. Users can choose new icons
from a collection of over 100 colorful ones or quickly create custom icons
based on their favorite application with Desktop IconMaker.

STUFFIT EXPANDER lets users expand StuffIt archives, Compact Pro and
AppleLink files, and decode BinHex files.

Aladdin Desktop Tools will run on any Macintosh series computer with 2 Mb
of memory and System 7 or later. Aladdin Desktop Tools will be available
in the early fourth quarter, 1993 and will carry a list price of $89.95.
