C++ Compiler Supports DSP Development System

June 1, 1994 -- San Diego, CA - Wintriss Engineering Corporation's Turbo
C30-II DSP Development Board, currently in production, is now supported by
the Tartan, Inc. C/C++ package which provides a complete development
environment for DSP applications. The Turbo C30-II, based on the industry
standard Texas Instruments TMS320C30 floating point DSP, plugs into a
PC/AT 16 bit bus, provides for data transfer rates up to 4.2MB/sec and
operates at 40MHz and 33MHz clock rates. Up to 8MB of fast, static RAM is
available on the board. The C30 and PC/AT share 2MB of the 8MB RAM in a
dual access, zero wait state, interleaved memory scheme. From the PC side,
the data bus is 16 bits wide and uses short memory cycles with no wait
states for maximum throughput. Tartan's system includes optimizing C and
C++ compilers, runtime system, assembler, linker, and window-oriented
debugger. Using Tartan's development software, DSP system designers will
enjoy: superior performance for programming in C or to C30 hardware
capabilities; symbolic source and machine-level debugging; compatibility
with third party libraries; and the advantages of the C++ language,
including object-oriented programming for easier maintenance and software
reuse. The Wintriss Engineering Turbo C30-II starts at $1,595 with the
Tartan C/C++ Compiler/Linker/Debugger priced at $2,495.
