BSIM3 Model Parameters Extracted from TMA's AURORA are Certified for use
with MicroSim's PSpice

June 1, 1994 -- (Irvine, CA) MicroSim Corporation and Technology Modeling
Associates, Inc. (TMA) have worked together to let MOS IC designers
measure device electrical characteristics, extract BSIM3 model parameters,
graphically analyze data and model fitting results using AURORA, and then
use these models in PSpice for simulation.

Until now, IC designers needing model parameters extracted from wafer
measurements for use in simulation have been hindered by restrictions such
as the device test structures required by other products on the market.
Using AURORA and the Design Center with PSpice. there are no restrictions!
All BSIM3 model parameters extracted with AURORA are certified to be
completely compatible for use with PSpice. Designers get identical
simulation results compared with measurement data. PSpice and AURORA use
the same BSIM3 model which is the latest MOS device model from the
University of California, Berkeley. This model has been incorporated
identically into both programs to ensure compatible results.

Prior to the release of the BSIM3, many critical device characteristics in
sub-micron MOS devices were not accurately modeled in commercially
available models, which prompted the need for various proprietary models.
MicroSim and TMA are joining efforts in promoting the use of
non-proprietary models and they believe what AURORA and PSpice offer fill
a current void in the IC market. This gives the customer the flexibility
and added choice of using technically sophisticated systems like the
Design Center with PSpice instead of being limited to those simulators
supporting their own proprietary models. TMA also offers a full
characterization service to measure parts using AURORA. TMA's service is
very flexible: users are not limited to a specific test structure.

MicroSim has always provided technically sophisticated desktop EDA software
with unrivaled price/performance. Using the Design Center with TMA's
AURORA just enhances the designers development environment.

The Design Center prices range from $950 to $15,900 depending on platform
and configuration. TMA's AURORA starts at $24,000 in the U.S., but price
depends on platform.
