askSam Systems Announces Major Update
Version 2.0 Free-Form Database for Windows

New features plus OCR module pack even more power behind this flexible
application

May 23, 1994 -- Perry FL -- askSam for Windows has been acclaimed as the
free-form database as easy to use as a word processor. As in earlier
releases, Version 2.0 eliminates the need for structured fields and lets
you concentrate on organizing information according to individual
requirement.

The completely new OCR (optical character recognition) module is available
as an add-on for the new version, and well worth considering. With this
module, users can scan any text directly into an askSam database. Scanned
text is then immediately available to askSam's powerful search engine
which offers full-text, boolean, proximity, date and numeric searches.

askSam 2.0 includes filters for on-line services like CompuServe, Internet,
Lexis, and Nexis. These filters let you import information from such
services and turn it into a valuable personal database.

New hypertext links allow you to set up electronic databases of massive or
complex information such as catalogs, price lists, marketing reports or
government regulations. They also let you jump from one document to
another; jump from one file to another, run reports or execute any menu
command.

According to askSam Systems President, Phil Schnyder, "We've aimed for
widest possible use, greatest ease and flexibility as our objective for
the Version 2.0 update. We believe we've achieved that objective."

Schnyder points to other new features in askSam for Windows, Version 2.0
These include:

* Fast, comprehensive spell checker
* Drag and drop report writing
* Filters for comma-delimited, tab-delimited, and fixed
  position data
* Additional filters for Microsoft Word documents
* Bookmarks for instant information access
* Customizable toolbars
* Searches through multiple askSam databases
* Enhanced formatting: hanging indents, superscript,
  subscript and background colors

Also new is mail merge. This lets you merge addresses into letters or other
documents and supports fonts and other formats.

"More than one hundred other new features and enhancements are to be found
in Version 2.0," says Schnyder, "and our implementation of OCR is probably
unique in the industry."

askSam for Windows remains an important database application worth serious
consideration throughout most levels and functions of business or
education. It is an attractive alternative to structured, programmable
databases. Update Version 2.0 provides users with even more tools for
handling both structured and unstructured data.

The new version will be released this summer at a special introductory
price of just $149.95. Suggested retail is $395.00 Owners of earlier
askSam for Windows versions may update for only $79.95. Cost of the
optional OCR module is $99.95. For more information contact: askSam
