Imagine Releases Library Software
Executive Librarian Supports Dubner's Scene Stealer

February 16, 1994 -- Carmel, IN -- Imagine Products, Inc. announced the
release of a new Windows based application for text and image archives for
the professional video market. Also, Imagine's President Dan Montgomery,
and Dubner International, Inc.'s Director of Marketing, Evelyn Bronson
jointly announced a NAB '94 introductory bundle of The Executive Librarian
V1.0 and Scene Stealer, a frame capture product.

"Every facility has a stack of master and source tapes containing useful
creative work that no one seems to be able to find other than the
originator" Dan Montgomery commented. "We also recognize with the advent
of random access editing the growing need to catalog and archive clips in
a cost effective, digital manner."

The Executive Librarian provides a powerful mechanism for combining new and
old work in an immediately useful image retrieval system. The idea is to
merge shot logs, EDL descriptions and notes, et cetera and low resolution
'thumbnails' into one collective pool where full text searches can be
performed. Visual, audio and text browsing help to further narrow choices
before pulling the source material-which may reside on its original
media.

"Since the Scene Stealer was introduced last year, a significant number of
our customers have been seeking an easy to use 'off-the-shelf' image
enabled database for their archives" says Bronson. "We are pleased with
the flexibility and synergy of the Executive Librarian as a turnkey
solution."

The Executive Librarian features multi-user access for fast, full text
searches of 100,000s of records. Pull lists are generated from query
results and may be further edited, saved, or sent elsewhere
electronically. Password and user identification controls may be invoked
for various functions such as check out/in, reserving items, adding
material, printing reports or barcodes, database editing and other
administrative needs. Version 1.0 is Microsoft Windows compatible and
allows up to 3 levels of inter-related, user-definable fields (e.g.
Project, Scene, Take). Translation tables between external files, such as
Scene Stealer or Executive Producer logs, are easily created for importing
or exporting data.

Scene Stealer consists of a PC/AT circuit board and software which examines
incoming video frame by frame to determine when scene cuts take place. The
on-board frame grabber captures video images, either at timed intervals or
when triggered by cuts. Each frame is stored on the computer's hard disk
and can be tagged, optionally, with timecode from serially-controlled
decks. Black and white images, with the cut points automatically marked,
play back from disk for review, logging, annotating, or printing. Once the
images and audio are stored on disk, they may be transferred to the
Executive Librarian in ASCII tab-delimited format.

The Executive Producer is a comprehensive tool for logging, generating
edit-decision lists, converting EDLs to a variety of formats. Keyboard
control of deck shuttle and time code marking, Customized Default Values,
Search/Replace from lists and Quick Select menus all are designed to speed
data entry. Generate, import, and convert EDLs and shot logs in many
industry standard formats. The Executive Producer serves as a data
collector for the Executive Librarian and logging companion for non-linear
editors.
