EA*Kids Announces Licensing Agreement with DIC Entertainment

Madeline, Star of Cartoon Series Based on Award-Winning Children's Book, to
Make an Interactive Software Debut

SAN MATEO, Calif., February, 1994--EA*Kids, a division of Electronic Arts
and a leading publisher and distributor of children's computer software,
today announced that it has signed a contract for the exclusive license
for certain interactive media rights in the United States, Japan, and
Europe to the award-winning cartoon series based on Ludwig Bemelmans'
best-selling book Madeline.

EA*Kids signed the collaborative agreement with DIC Entertainment, a
leading Hollywood animation production company and the owner of Madeline's
television and merchandising rights.

The agreement enables Electronic Arts to bring Madeline, the popular
storybook and cartoon adventure, to life on major computer platforms. The
Madeline license is one of several examples of Electronic Arts' use of
popular entertainment figures in interactive products. Other such
Electronic Arts arrangements include Jonathan Taylor Thomas, one of the
young stars of the mega-hit television series "Home Improvement" as the
voice of Scooter in the new versions of EA*Kids' 1993-released title,
Scooter's Magic Castle; a long-term partnership formed with the Children's
Television Workshop to create a line of Sesame Street titles; and an
agreement with A&M Records in which A&M Music bands are incorporated into
Electronic Arts' videogames.

"Madeline is clearly a proven property as demonstrated by its success as an
international book and cartoon series," said Bing Gordon, Executive Vice
President of Electronic Arts. 'We are delighted to add educational
elements to the software version of this established character's
adventures in order to make the title both entertaining and instructional
for children," he said.

Madeline has been a top-selling children's book series since 1938. The
Madeline cartoon, which airs regularly on The Family Channel, a national
cable television network, has won an ACE Award (Award for Cable
Excellence) and been nominated for several Emmy Awards.

Designed for kids 4 to 7 years old, Madeline will be the first in the
EA*Kids line to feature actual language learning elements. The title
revolves around the misadventures of a charming little French girl named
Madeline with appearances by her mischievous Spanish friend named Pepito.
Madeline, who lives in an orphanage in a small French town, tackles all of
her challenges with a smile and a can-do attitude. A delight to everyone
she meets, she does have a tendency to get herself into and out of
trouble.

"Madeline is an established character and EA*Kids is an established
developer of high-quality children's software products," said Joy
Tashijian, President of Worldwide Merchandising and Sales for DIC
Entertainment. "We are excited to be involved in this project to create
the standard for Silicon Valley/Hollywood partnerships."

"This new relationship is another illustration of EA*Kids' commitment to
children and to education," said Mr. Gordon. "Madeline serves as a
valuable role model for young girls and the Madeline series will be a
useful tool in teaching language learning elements and cultural literacy.
Besides," concluded Gordon, "Madeline is a favorite of my number one 'EA
Kid,' my own daughter Chloe."

EA*Kids introduced a number of highly acclaimed children's software
products in 1993 including award-winning titles Peter Pan: A Story
Painting Adventure, the Eagle Eye Mysteries series, and Scooter's Magic
Castle. Additional releases include Ping and Kooky's Cuckoo Zoo, Video Jam
and EA*Kids Arts Center. In 1994, EA*Kids will be releasing a line of
Sesame Street titles under a long-term partnership formed with the
Children's Television Workshop. Most EA*Kids titles are available on both
MS-DOS and Macintosh formats, and some are also available for CD-ROM.

EA*Kids is a division of Electronic Arts. Electronic Arts (NASDAQ:ERTS) is
a diversified entertainment and education company that develops, publishes
and distributes software worldwide. The company was founded in 1982 and
has an annual sales rate of almost $400 million. Its corporate
