Notes Documents Now Available Via Fax-on-Demand

(Orlando, FLA December 6, 1993)--Lotus Development Corp., of Cambridge,
Mass., and Ibex Technologies, Inc. of Placerville, Calif., today announced
the two companies are working together to integrate fax-on-demand
technology developed by Ibex with Lotus Notes. The resulting product,
Notes-by-Fax, will allow Lotus Notes documents to be accessed remotely by
anyone with access to a fax machine.

"Most Notes applications involve creating, managing and distributing
documents such as bulletins, memos, specifications and technical notes,"
said Jeffrey Papows, vice president of Lotus' Notes Product Division.
"Notes-by-Fax allows workgroup contributors such as customers, suppliers
and field personnel to access these documents when they're not connected
to Notes via a PC or workstation." With the assistance of voice prompts,
Notes-by-Fax users utilize a touch-tone phone to select needed documents
from a list of available Notes documents. The documents are then faxed to
a fax machine specified by the Notes-by-Fax user.

The full suite of Note's database security and document management
framework is retained so that only specific Notes documents are available
via fax. Additional security features include caller ID# and password
screening as well as individual document password capability. An index of
available Notes documents, which can be made available to callers via fax,
is updated automatically to reflect additions, deletions and modifications
to Notes documents.

Ibex Technologies, headquartered in Placerville, Calif., is the leading
provider of enhanced fax solutions. The company, a pioneer in
fax-on-demand, introduced its original FactsLine fax-on-demand product in
1990 and saw it quickly emerge as PCWeek's Analyst's Choice. Other fax
products available through Ibex include Fax Broadcast, Precision Fax high
resolution document service, Interactive Forms, and FDL Fax Description
Language. High technology firms, government agencies, manufacturers,
publishers and service organizations all use Ibex fax systems to automate
document retrieval.

Lotus Notes is the industry standard client/server platform for developing

improve business processes, including customer service, sales and account
management and product development. By reducing the time and improving the
