CADPIPE INTERact

INTERact gives you a window on your facility documents

INERact gives the ability to organize and access a database that follows
each project from the "cradle to the grave". Now, drawings are useful over
the full life-cycle of the plant.

Through CADPIPE INTERact, with CADPIPE P&ID, you can interact with your
process safety documentation--in fact, any documentation-giving you the
potential to develop a systematic, electronic document approach to meeting
the United States Department of Labor OSHA 1910.119 standards.

Your document directories can include process safety information that
pertains to the hazards of chemicals used or produced by a process;
information that pertains to the technology of the process; and
information that pertains to the equipment in the process.

With INTERact, you can pull in scanned images by picking an item on the
drawing. Accessibility is a critical feature of plant documentation.

CADPIPE INTERact searches for you

With the appropriate fields in the database, you will be able to search for
information on an item or for the item itself using specific search
criteria. CADPIPE INTERact gives you the power to search by equipment
number, instrument number, control valve number, or PSV number.

If you enter an equipment number, INTERact will find the P&ID drawing that
the equipment is on, load the drawing, and zoom to the equipment on the
drawing.

Access manufacturer datasheets by picking an object on your drawing You can
scan in your manufacturer datasheets, store all these in a document
directory, and then link all your drawings to this directory through
CADPIPE INTERact.

Then you can use INTERact to search for an item, and once it has loaded the
drawing for you and zoomed to the relevant area of the drawing, you can
digitize the item and the system will let you choose the available
information that you want to read.

Now, companies can develop and store accurate records that are easy to
access by all qualified personnel without special training on computers.

Rapid access to information is one side of CADPIPE INTERact. The other is
designed to help you work more efficiently.

Don't retire your engineering drawings after construction . . . put them to
work in facilities management and documentation.

Automatically fill in datasheets and database fields with INTERact and your
P&ID drawing

An important part of the INTERact philosophy is to help plant managers work
more efficiently. CADPIPE has always had a "single entry" philosophy,
where you enter information once, and then the program looks after
entering the information in all related areas. So, INTERact makes it
possible to fill in datasheets and equipment drawing sheets from your
CADPIPE P&ID drawing.

Bi-directional design data When you load a drawing with INTERact, you can
interact with all the information stored in the database through dialog
boxes. With equipment design data, the program is "bi-directional". That
means you can change the information in the database, and the design
labels in the drawing will be updated automatically.

CADPIPE INTERact lets you choose whether you want to label your drawings
with design data in Metric or Imperial units (regardless of whether the
drawing was created as a Metric or Imperial drawing).

The datasheets are provided with INTERact as AutoCAD drawing files, and
they are easy to customize to suit your information needs.

Tables and indexes

Tables and indexes supported:

* line list or line designation table
* instrument index
* instrument datasheet manual valves fittings and
  miscellaneous fittings
* equipment drawing sheets
* equipment datasheets
* control valves
* PSVs

INTERact can extract from the P&ID drawing into the line list table: size,
rating, line number, and specification. Size can be either Imperial or
Metric.

Audit Trail INTERact provides an audit trail to keep track of all revisions
in separate tables. You can view the changes to see the before and after
as well as who made the changes and when.

Customizing INTERact for your management needs

Upfront planning by ISS has made it easy for you to customize the fields
you need in the database and then in
the dialog boxes that appear when you are in a drawing.

Networks INTERact is designed to work with networks, sharing common
information between CAD stations, non-CAD stations, and other engineering
disciplines.

Existing drawings

We recognize that many users will have some P&IDs in paper format as well
as AutoCAD format created with blocks. Existing line lists, instrument
indexes, and equipment and data sheets will need to be integrated into the
new system.

Methods are available to integrate paper and AutoCAD drawings into CADPIPE
INTERact.

CADPIPE P&ID and INTERact

CADPIPE P&ID drawings must be release 2.21+; INTERact works with AutoCAD
Release 12. Existing CADPIPE 2.21 drawings can be integrated into CADPIPE
INTERact. There is an automatic feature to link the drawings in CADPIPE
INTERact.

Collaboration in development

INTERact is the result of a collaboration in development, combining the two
fields necessary to make this type of program work in the world of AutoCAD
: plant design and geographical information systems (GIS).
