VideoLabs intros affordable Document Camera

High-resolution color camera ideal for document, 3-D scanning

December 1, 1993 -- MINNEAPOLIS, MN -- VideoLabs, Inc. today introduced
"FlexCam/Document," an affordable document camera based on the popular
"FlexCam" desktop video camera.

Designed to compete with Elmo, Canon, Panasonic and other overhead
"document cameras," the FlexCam/Document camera offers equivalent
capability at less than half the price of other cameras.

FlexCam/Document's sharp 8mm lens precisely images 8" by 12" documents when
the neck is fully extended. The lens may also be focused down to 1/4-inch,
which effectively produces "microscopic" magnification of 50:1 when viewed
on a 25-inch monitor.

"This is the first high-quality document camera ever offered at this
price," according to Ward C. Johnson, VideoLab's president. "It offers
extremely sharp NTSC or PAL color output, and excellent low-light
characteristics. It compares favorably both in price and performance to
other document cameras, including the Elmo and Canon, available for $2,000
and more."

The camera, with more than 270,000 pixels, outputs 350 TV lines of
resolution.

In addition to the flexible 18-inch "gooseneck" design first offered on
FlexCam, VideoLab's Document Camera offers:

Mechanical Iris--VideoLab's FlexCam/Document features a mechanical iris. As
a result, the color quality and correctness is superior to electronic
shutter cameras, particularly under very bright or fluorescent-lit office
conditions.

Video "Pass-Through" connection-allows users to connect cameras in series.
An on/off switch selects which camera is active.

VideoLabs' FlexCam/Document is designed to scan documents, transparencies
and 3-D objects. The product targets both computer and audio-visual (A/V)
markets. Suggested retail price is $995 without audio and $1,045 with
microphones.

VideoLabs, Inc. has offices at 5270 West 84th Street, Minneapolis, MN
55437. Office hours are 8 am to 5 pm, Central Standard Time. (612)
