New Value Pricing for High-Performance NetWare Printing
Street Price Less than $250 For Ethernet Print Servers

BOISE, ID, December 1, 1993--Today, Extended Systems announced
industry-leading pricing on their families of Novell NetWare-optimized
print servers. These products allow printers to be attached anywhere on an
Ethernet or Token-Ring network. They provide high-performance printing
with NetWare networks, 10-30 times faster than traditional PC-based print
servers. Better still, these products actually cost less, in many cases,
than configuring existing 286 or 386 PCs as print servers. The benefits to
users and network managers add up to better NetWare print performance, at
lower cost, with fewer dedicated PCs to administer.

Enabling Ethernet NetWare printing, Extended Systems offers the
PocketPrintServer and ExtendNet products. PocketPrintServer ESI-2830A
provides 10BASE-T and 10BASE2 connections for printers with
parallel-Centronics ports. ExtendNet ESI-2866A provides those Ethernet
connections for the LaserJet 4 and LaserJet 4Si printer families. Both
products feature list prices of $349 and are available immediately. Street
prices are expected to be below $250.

For Token-Ring printing, Extended Systems offers the PocketPrintServer
ESI-2848B. The PocketPrintServer ESI-2848B provides single-printer
connectivity on Novell Token-Ring networks . PocketPrintServer attaches to
the parallel-Centronics port of virtually any printer. The print server
carries a list price of $595, with street prices expected to be less than
$450.

"We believe a critical issue for many NetWare administrators today is the
cost of adding peripherals to the network," said Clay Young, Network
Printing Marketing Manager. While Ethernet PC interface card prices have
dropped below $100 in many instances, hardware print server NICs have
remained in the $449-$599 range. These more expensive print servers have
added multiple protocol and mixed-environment support, but prices and
complexity have remained high.

"Extended Systems has identified the need for lower-priced
NetWare-optimized servers on sites strategically committed to Novell. To
meet this need, Extended Systems is introducing a complete line of
value-priced print servers for the Novell community. This new pricing
leads the industry in full-function print servers," said Young.

These print servers, and many others, are featured in the Extended Systems
Winter 1993 Product Guide. Product Guides may be received free of charge
by calling 800-235-7576 or 406587-7575.
