CADPIPE 3. 0

Comprehensive

Version 3.0 makes CADPIPE the most comprehensive PC-based plant design
system of programs available.

CADPIPE 3.0 supports forged steel cast iron and ductile iron flanged pipe
and fittings, FRP/Plastic pipe and fittings, and lined pipe and fittings.

The BOM and Specification Generator support the new database additions.

Intelligent

The CADPIPE 3.0 programs continue the tradition of using the intelligence
of the drawing to make a designer's work easier and quicker, as well as
looking after the details that designers need to get the job done. This
philosophy has made CADPIPE the most intelligent plant design system
available.

So, with the new database additions, CADPIPE ORTHO and ISO both support
minimum and maximum pipe lengths, lining thicknesses, and compressed
lining and gasket thicknesses, for flanged and lined pipe.

The CADPIPE databases now support custom length reducers, valve engagement
tables, and engagement by schedule tables.

As well, we have improved the user interface on all programs, making them
easier to use. For example, the status line displays the line number
you're working on, the specification, the line size, whether SPEC CHECK is
on, and in ORTHO the current elevation. And, in P&ID we have developed a
new pull-down menu.

And we have included many editing improvements in each of the packages that
make the inevitable revisions as easy as possible. As well, the date/time
stamp now supports a user ID as an option in all modules. All 3.0 versions
of CADPIPE have repeating commands, as in AutoCAD. CADPIPE 3.0 will run on
AutoCAD Release 11 and Release 12.

P&ID 3.0

> AUTO-BREAK the flow lines

This is an option which, when active,
breaks all crossing lines as they are being drawn, in accordance with
standard practice.

> Line designation tag update

Edit the line size, specification, or number and the line designation tag
will update automatically. Or, if you place a reducer, CADPIPE
automatically updates the line designation tag.

> Instrument balloons with leaders--designation update

When instrument balloons with leaders are placed pointing to a line, they
will update to the line designation; and when placed pointing to
equipment, they will update to the equipment number for the BOM report.

> Move segment--all-inclusive As part of CADPIPE'S renewed emphasis on
editing power, this command moves a line segment complete with all items
and line breaks; it then re-pipes all the lines.

> Control valve update

If you place an actuator on a manual valve, the program automatically
updates the valve to a control valve for the Bill of Materials.

> Valve end-type option

CADPIPE P&ID now includes socket weld and threaded valve icons. If you have
SPEC CHECK ON, and change line size, the program can automatically update
your valve icons if required.

> Nodes for snapping ease

Node points are now defined on instrument balloons and pumps at the quad
points, and on the crown of actuators.

ISO 3.0

> AUTO-VALVE TAG

This feature, originally developed for P&ID, is now available for ISO. With
SPEC CHECK ON, the valve tag from the spec can be placed on the drawing
automatically.

> AUTO-DIMENSION in AUTO-ISO

Automatic dimensioning is supported for all AUTO-ISO drawings; single
offsets are included.

> Editing your dimensions with new ease and flexibility

You can edit isometric dimensions, change the plane, or simply move the
dimension to the other side of the pipe with a single pick.

> AUTO-PIPE pipe lengths

AUTO-PIPE supports a minimum pipe length for Butt Weld, as a ratio of the
pipe diameter.

> Spec status at a glance

Component attribute nodes (which are visible in ISO) now have color-by-spec
status. Placed with SPEC CHECK OFF, they appear as red; placed with SPEC
OVERRIDE, yellow; placed with SPEC CHECK ON, white. The user can change
these colors. Editing the specification or wall thickness will change the
color status to red.

> Edit wall thickness by item

The edit wall thickness command now has an option to select a single item.
This means that you can specify different wall thickness for individual
items.

> AUTO-BALLOON for more items

Miscellaneous blocks will now AUTO-BALOON, and Lap Joint Flanges will
balloon the flange and stub-end as two items.

> AUTO-ISO keeps pace

AUTO-ISO now supports flanged and lined pipe and fittings as well as
FRP/Plastic.

AUTO-ISO displays the current filename when generating the ISO or
orientating the ISO.

> Field welds with intelligence

Field welds can be used as pipe ends, thus saving time over the earlier
versions of CADPIPE ISO.

ORTHO 3.0

> AUTO-SECTION additions

The AUTO-SECTION command supports 3-way, 4-way, and PSV valves; orifice
flanges; line and spectacle blinds; unions; nozzles; nipolets; and
couplings.

> PIPE BREAK has new speed

Pipe breaks no longer require an AutoCAD Zoom to the extent of the pipe
segment.

> Line designation tag flexibility

Blocks are no longer used for the line designation.

> AUTO-ELBOWS--trimmed

AUTO-ELBOW now automatically handles trimmed and compound trimmed elbows.

> Automatic single line/double line representation

You can set a minimum size for double line according to your company
standards; all sizes smaller than the default size will be represented as
single line.

> AUTO-PIPE pipe lengths

AUTO-PIPE now has an option for minimum pipe length; the default is the
pipe diameter.

> Routing line start-point reference

The routing line command has a reference start-point option: this means
that you can digitize an existing reference point and give a distance and
direction to start your routing line relative to the selected point.

> New layers by specification

You can place all items by specification onto specification layers. As you
use a specification, the layers are created automatically. Assign colors
by specification for easy identification of lines. Pre-define the
specification colors in an ASCII file.

> Layer locking

CADPIPE supports AutoCAD R12 layer locking. A new command "Lock" will lock
all specification layers other than the ones you select (without an
AutoCAD Regen) and all items on the locked layer(s) remain visible.
"Unlock" unlocks all layers. This is very useful in congested areas as
STRETCH and ERASE will not affect the items on the locked layers.

> Elevation clipping

The command ELCLIP is now loaded with CADPIPE; ELCLIP gives you the option
to view or work on items at a specific elevation or between an upper and
lower elevation, temporarily removing all items not included at the
defined elevations.

> One-pick editing ease

The Erase Fitting command works the same as in ISO: selecting any part of
the fitting will erase all the linework and nodes. And more, commands to
Move, Copy, and Mirror fittings with a single pick have been added to the
Utility menu. You can also use keyboard input to call up these commands.

> Edit wall thickness by item The Edit wall command now has an option to
select individual items, as in ISO.
