October 26th 1993 -- BEAVERTON, OREGON - Saltire Software, the developer of
Analytix, announce the launch of version 3.0 of their highly acclaimed
mechanism design and analysis software package.

Analytix 3.0 contains all the features of the original version, including
statics, kinematics, dynamics and tolerance analysis, accessible from a
sketch-based constructive variational geometry user interface.

In addition Analytix 3.0 adds the following features:

* Intelligent Annotation - annotation may be attached to key points or
lines of a model facilitating the labelling of coubler points and other
key features. Calculated quantities such as forces, velocities and
accelerations may also be embedded in the annotation and will
automatically update as the mechanism moves.

* Increment slider - allows a slider bar to be attached to any dimension or
parameter of the model. As the slider bar is moved, the model updates to
reflect the parameter change, providing a whole new level of interactivity
with the model.

* Multivariate iteration - Analytix 3.0 includes a general purpose
multivariate root finder. This may be used to perform mechanism synthesis.
Analytix 3.0 will vary key design parameters automatically to find the
design which matches a preestablished set of criteria.

* Tolerance trace - in addition to the sophisticated tolerance stack up
analysis, tolerance zone analysis and tolerance sensitivity analysis,
Analytix 3.0 performs coupler curve tolerance analysis. Coupler curve
tolerance analysis displays in a single picture the tolerance band for the
entire motion of a coupler point. As with all tolerance analysis, this may
be performed using absolute (max/min) tolerance stack up or statistical
(root sum squared) stack up.

* Over 50 additional functions and features including style and font
management, windows metafile support, relative velocity and acceleration
between geometric entities, on-line help, enhanced conditionals in the
expression calculator.

"The real power of Analytix lies in its ability to quickly see the results
of modifications to mechanisms without having one's attention distracted
by complex calculations or drafting techniques. The insights gained by
using tools as powerful, yet simple, as this must be experienced to be
appreciated.", Seid Waddell, design engineer, Medrad.

Since the introduction of Analytix in 1989, Saltire Software has pioneered
the use of a sketch based interface coupled with engineering analysis on a
personal computer. The Analytix product family now has four members.
Apollonius ($99) is a dimension driven geometry package with built in
calculator. Analytix ($895) adds tolerancing, kinematics, statics and
inverse dynamics. Dynamix ($1350) adds dynamic simulation. The Atlas of
Linkage Design and Analysis ($199) is a 500 page book containing over 2000
coupler curves, along with accompanying analysis software.

Saltire has recently established itself as a leader in the development of
pen based drawing packages with the introduction of SketchRight on the Pen
Windows operating system and DrawPad on the Newton.

Analytix 3.0 is available now and lists for $895. Current Analytix users
may upgrade to Analytix 3.0 for $249.
