         RELISH 32-Bit

The Desktop Time and Information Organizer

Developed Expressly for OS/2 Presentation Manager
    By Sundial Systems Corporation

         A BRIEF INTRODUCTION

Relish is a personal time and information organizer that is ideal
for coordinating tasks and/or managing time. It is organized around
a database of notes about a variety of commitments. Just make notes
on who, what, when, where, and why, and Relish will do the rest.
For instance, the notes are saved, sorted by time and date, and
reminders are set-up - all automatically.

Relish is intuitively designed and intuitive to use, which makes
managing time and information both easy and reliable. Workplace
Shell enhancements for OS/2 2.0 add flexibility to your scheduling
with extensive drag-and-drop support. Imagine rescheduling by
dragging a scheduled item to the new date or time... or printing
a day's calendar by dragging the date to the printer... It really
    is just that easy.

    You'll be scheduling:
     * Appointments
     * Meetings
     * Phone Calls to make
     * Programs to run
     * Anything that needs to be noted or done

Relish is perfect for everything you need to be reminded about or
that you just want to keep track of. While Relish won't attend your
meetings, it will dial phone calls and run OS/2 computer programs.

With flexible scheduling, you won't be forcing your commitments into
arbitrarily predefined blocks of time. You decide the starting and
ending times, and any duration is OK. In fact, you don't have to
pick specific times, and your meetings and other events can overlap
with each other, if that's what you need. It's really up to you.

Best of all, Relish will always remind you of obligations that
require your personal attention. Because Relish starts operation
whenever OS/2 starts, your reminders will always be displayed while
your computer is on, regardless of what program is running. Should
OS/2 be shut down or your computer turned off when a reminder is
due, Relish will alert you to it soon after OS/2 resumes operating.

    GROUP SCHEDULING
Relish Net 32-Bit expands the personal scheduling capabilities of
Relish to the LAN-based workgroup. Personal scheduling is seamlessly
integrated with group and resource scheduling without sacrificing
security, privacy, or individual control. For more information on

    THE WORKING MODEL
Now you have the opportunity to experience Relish 32-Bit first hand.
The Working Model is a nearly fully functional version of Relish that
limits scheduling to within the next 48 hours and restricts
printing, importing, and exporting. Install it now and see what
intelligent time management is all about.

         INSTALLING THE RELISH WORKING MODEL

Relish runs as a Presentation Manager application under OS/2 2.0
Before using the Relish 32-Bit Working Model, it must be installed
on your hard disk. (Note that it should never be installed on a
floppy disk.) To install it, you need at least 1.5 megabytes of free
space on your hard disk to contain the Relish programs and files.

To install, place the distribution disk in drive A: (or any other
floppy disk drive). At the command prompt in any OS/2 session or
window, type (substituting the appropriate disk drive letter):

                A:INSTALL

You can also start the installation program from an OS/2 folder
for the floppy drive by double-clicking on it's icon.

If you received the Relish Working Model electronically and the
files are already on your hard drive, you still should install it
before use. Just follow the above instructions, but be sure to use
the correct drive and path (for example, C:\TEMP\INSTALL).

Once you have started the installation program, follow the simple
instructions on your screen. You must specify the disk drive and
directory in which Relish will be installed. Unless you choose
otherwise, Relish is installed in the \RELISH directory on the
C: drive. If the directory does not already exist, it will be
    created automatically.

Also during installation, you will be asked if you want the NOW
Service Process to start automatically each time OS/2 is started.
This is the portion of Relish that delivers your reminders even when
you are running other programs. Therefore, unless you have a
specific reason it should not be started, let the installation make
the necessary changes to your STARTUP.CMD file.

Should it for any reason become necessary, you can select Cancel or
press the ESC key to stop the installation.

         RELISH IS EASY TO SPREAD

Run Relish just like any other OS/2 program by selecting it with
your mouse from the icon placed on your desktop at installation.
Alternatively, you can run Relish from any OS/2 session or window
by changing to the directory with Relish, and typing:

                RELISHWM

The traditional way to use Relish through a series of "menus" and
"dialogs." Starting from the main menu across the top of the window,
each action keyword leads you to a menu of options, and each option
leads in turn to a dialog where you make choices, enter information,
or select actions to be carried out.

At the same time, you can make use of the drag-and drop capabilities
of Relish 32-Bit. For example, the Note Palette has icons representing
the note types. These icons can be selected directly or dragged to
    times and dates for scheduling.

While some functions are not available with the Relish Working
    Model, you normally can:

     * Edit notes
     * Add new notes
     * Choose your information display options
     * View a summary of notes
     * Lookup particular notes by their contents
     * Print your notes for a specified period of time
     * Setup processing options and device connections, and get general
     * Help information.

A highlighted area on the window, and/or a blinking cursor, shows
where you are within Relish's menus and dialogs. The message at the
bottom of the window always gives you some information about the
    highlighted area.

If you find yourself in a menu or dialog that you do not want to
complete, you have several ways to cancel your current activity. No
matter where you are, pressing the ESC key will always cancel the
current dialog or menu. In addition, most dialogs contain a Cancel
    pushbutton.

    HELP IS ALL AROUND YOU
Help in the menu bar will give you information on a host of topics.
It offers information about getting help, general topics about
Relish, special topics on detailed concepts that are relevant to
more than one of Relish's features or functions, and keyboard usage
    and special function keys.

To get specialized help information for a highlighted field, button,
or menu item, press the F1 key or select the Help pushbutton in the
dialog. This information generally summarizes the ways a button can
be used or the types of information that should be entered in a
    field.

Another kind of help is available when you are entering times and
dates. You can see the assumptions Relish is making about your
entry by first selecting Show Analysis under the Format option of
the Choose menu. This will allow Relish to display a keystroke-
by-keystroke interpretation of your time and date entries.

         EXPLORING RELISH

Relish can make "time management" enjoyable. At the same time, it
can increase your personal productivity. Try the following:

       * First, "Add" an appointment to your schedule for later today.
Do this by selecting Appointment on the Add menu; or, double
click on the appointment icon in the Note Palette; or, drag
the appointment icon to a time on the time graph in the window.
Notice that you can schedule this appointment to begin (and
end) at any time, without the "normal" restrictions of
predefined timeslots. After you OK the appointment you've just
made, you'll see a summary of it on today's schedule.

       * Now, minimize Relish. While it's an icon, Relish leaves a
small calendar for reference on your desktop. (You can turn
this feature off if you prefer.) Click on today's date - it's
highlighted - with your mouse, and you'll get today's schedule.
Not only that, the "Add" pushbutton provides the opportunity to
schedule more commitments, right then and there, even for other
       days.

       * If you double click on the summary line of your appointment,
the entire appointment will be displayed, ready for any changes
you choose to make. Thus, you can revise and add to your
       schedule while Relish is minimized!

       * And, when you want to restore Relish, just click on the equal
sign icon in the reference calendar.

       * Later today you'll be reminded of the appointment you
scheduled, whether you still have Relish running or not. That
doesn't mean whether Relish is in a window or as an icon - it
can be "closed" and you'll still get your reminders.

       * Also, when you get a reminder, you can take action immediately.
Defer the reminder to a later time, snooze all reminders, or
reschedule your commitment without ever going back to your
       schedule.

Take a few minutes to explore the menus and try more of Relish's
features. You might want to customize the chimes played with your
reminders (with the Chime Tones options on the Setup menu). If you
aren't sure of the proper notation, the Help menu has all the
necessary information. And, you can "test" your creation by
pressing the F9 key while you are in the field.

Perhaps you'd like Relish to use a 24 hour clock. Or, maybe you'd
like the ending (as well as the starting) time of your commitments
to be included in the summarized listing. The Format option on the
Choose menu offers you these and other alternatives.

Or, you might want the time and date always displayed in its own
window on the bottom of your screen desktop (using the Desktop
option under Setup). Clicking on this window is another way to
    access Relish and today's schedule.

         WHEN YOU ARE DONE

To conform to OS/2 2.0 standards, you exit from Relish 32-Bit by
selecting Close on the system menu. Alternatively, you can just
double click on the system menu icon. But, you really don't need
to exit. Because Relish stores information dynamically as you enter
it, you don't need to take special action at the end of the day.
(Remember, you never need to "save;" with Relish it's automatic.)

         LAST, BUT NOT LEAST

Intuitive, reliable, and time-saving: with Relish it's easy to take
control of your calendar. Relish comes fully documented with
explanations and hints about its host of time-saving features and
    functions.
