2.0 Installation Notes for Windows NT

This driver package containing:

  - ATI.SYS (Graphics miniport driver)
  - ATI.DLL (Graphics display driver)
  - OEMSETUP.INF (setup files used by Windows NT Setup program)
  - TXTSETUP.OEM
  - ATI_VID
  - This README file

Windows NT drivers are included on Disk #3 of this package. They are
located in the \NT sub-directory.

Procedure:

1. Run the Windows NT Setup program located in the Program Manager, Main
   group.

2. Select Change System settings, from the Options pulldown menu.

3. Select Other, from the display options.

4. NT will prompt you for the correct path, enter A:\NT, where A: is
the drive containing mach64 Disk #3.

5. A list of all drivers will appears, select the resolution and color
   depth desired.

6. Restart Windows NT. Windows NT will start up using the mach64 drivers.

Note: If you select a color depth or resolution, not supported by your
card, NT will substitute 640x480, 256 color for the display.

2.1 Uninstalling the Windows NT drivers

There are TWO ways to uninstall the mach64 drivers without re-installing
Windows NT.

ONE method is:
    CD \winnt\system32\drivers
    ren ATI.sys ATI.ati
Windows NT looks for ATI.SYS drivers at boot time, if it cannot find
    it, it cannot use it.

SECOND method is:
While running Windows NT, execute the Win NT Setup program.
Select a NON mach64 driver (try VGA compatible)

3.0 Known Problems

Some applications do not handle 24bpp and 32bpp properly resulting in the
colors not looking right.

What to do if "ATI ACCELERATOR not found" message appears:
Is there another adapter card in the system that CONFLICTS with I/O
locations in the 350-35F hex range? Relocate the I/O to 300 to 31F range.

Attempting to run the mach64 Install program under NT will report "Mach64
Adapter not detected.". The install program must be run from DOS.

Before entering Windows NT, half a screen is blank momentarily. This is not
a bug. Windows NT is reading the BIOS during this time period.

A garbage line will be generated when Windows NT is booting.
