Obama's Anti-RKBA Playbook: ...The bait-and-switch gimmick of employing rhetorical tricks to hide very real gun control agendas, and to create a fraudulent history to assure that "your gun record does not define your candidacy" are the central lessons offered in a political/propaganda playbook or script proffered by something called the Third Way. Titled, "Taking back the Second Amendment," the script is built around a central public opinion finding: "Voters overwhelmingly support the Second Amendment and believe that it confers an individual's right to own firearms" - a finding confirmed long ago by NRA's own polling of American public opinion... http://townhall.com/columnists/JohnSigler/2008/10/31/obamas_gun-restriction_policy_playbook?page=full --- Most Expect Obama to Infringe RKBA: Nearly two-thirds of U.S. voters (63%) say Barack Obama is more likely than John McCain to restrict an individual's right to own a gun, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Just 16% believe McCain is more likely to do so, and 22% are undecided. A plurality of Democrats (42%) agree that Obama is more likely to restrict gun rights, as do 84% of Republicans and 64% of unaffiliated voters... (While Obama can issue executive orders, such as limiting imports of firearms and ammunition, it is both houses of Congress that must pass actual legislation. There's a reason that the press ballyhoos the polls showing Obama out front - don't let them keep you from voting at all levels.) http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/63_say_obama_more_likely_to_restrict_gun_rights --- Not Surprisingly...: A number of Armstrong County gun owners apparently agree with the The National Rifle Association's position: Barack Obama is "...the most anti-gun presidential candidate in American history." With that thought in mind, many gun owners are "stocking up" on guns and ammo in anticipation of gun bans should Obama win the presidential election next Tuesday. Brian Balentine, and employee of Gone For a Day sporting goods and gun shop, Main Street, Elderton, said AR-15 rifles, a semi-automatic version of the military M-16, handguns and home defense shotguns are being bought by some customers... http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/leadertimes/s_595951.html Tangentially Related: He hated the helplessness of watching John McCain's efforts from afar, so Joe White, 62, loaded up his trailer in South Carolina and drove here last weekend. He set up camp in a Wal-Mart parking lot, bought a map of State College and started knocking on strangers' doors - 25 houses per hour, 10 hours each day...During the last two weeks, thousands of volunteers such as White have flocked to Pennsylvania -- the land of last resort for McCain's campaign. Among staffers and volunteers working frantically in this state, the typical line of thought goes like this: If McCain can somehow score an upset in Pennsylvania, he will earn 21 electoral votes, compensate for potential losses in some traditionally Republican states and narrowly defeat Sen. Barack Obama for the presidency. On their T-shirts and hats, McCain volunteers reduce the strategy to a simple slogan: Twenty-one... http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/10/31/AR2008103104022.html?hpid=topnews --- While in Arkansas...: ...Patrick Brady, a gun dealer in Northwest Arkansas, says he expects sales to triple should Obama win the Nov. 4 election. "I probably won't have a gun left in stock," said Don Hill, owner of Don's Weaponry in North Little Rock. "And Joe Biden is the guy that passed the assault ban years ago. He's the one who wrote and passed it. He's the biggest anti-gunner there is." ...Now, gun owners say under a Democratic administration, their second amendment rights could be up for grabs again. "(Obama) wanted to outlaw ammunition at one point," said Dustin Ward. Presidential candidates Barack Obama and John McCain have very different views on gun control, and people in the Northwoods are worried about the change of leadership in Washington. The struggling economy doesn't seem to be hurting gun sales at Statton's General Store in Tomahawk. Dick Statton, the Owner of Statton's General Store, says "In a year like this where you would expext the economy would keep people from spending on a new firearm that's not the case..." http://www.wjfw.com/print_story.html?SKU=20081030173509 --- And Back to Florida...: Local gun sales have gone through the roof, and gun owners said a lot of it has to do with concerns over who will become the next president. Some gun owners said that the Democrats, traditionally, have been for more gun control. They said owning or buying a gun could be muffled under Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. Joe Biden. Heather Lavornia said that business has more than doubled in recent months at Loves Gun and Pawn Shop in DeLand. She said customers have been telling her that they're getting the guns while they still can. Lavornia said her customers believe Obama will tighten gun laws or raise gun taxes significantly... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27446947/ --- Goodbye to Hunting?: ...When Ohio's deer season opens on Dec. 1, I hope to be afield somewhere here in Highland County in an attempt to put some of nature's finest venison in my freezer for the winter. I plan to savor every sight, every sound and every smell of that whitetail hunt because after Barack Obama is sworn in as president on Jan. 20, 2009, as I fully expect him to be, his administration will sound the death knell for all hunting and gun ownership by the end of his first term...In 1999, he announced his support for increasing the federal taxes on all guns and ammunition a startling 500 percent. Such a move would render it practically impossible for you and me to buy the shotgun shells that we use for both deer and small game hunting here in Ohio... http://www.timesgazette.com/main.asp?SectionID=1&SubSectionID=1&ArticleID=158360&TM=38449.88 --- We're Whores but...: If you are a supporter of Barack Obama and a subscriber of the Times Recorder, you probably aren't very happy with us today. But the Pennsylvania gun owner will rely on her right hand to pull the lever for Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama next week. "He supports the Second Amendment. He just doesn't believe guns should be given to known criminals," said Shelby, an Obama volunteer in Hazleton, a city located in Pennsylvania's 11th Congressional district and home to just over 23,000 residents, according to the 2000 U.S. Census... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/the-ballot-box/obama-and-mccain-unlikely_b_139368.html --- One More Convert: ...The bullet pierced my target, an 8.5-by-11-inch sheet of copy paper, near the center. They seem to think that because only about 5% of the populace supported the idea of seceding from the English Empire back in 1776, that their "magic number" is 3% and they think they have that because some survey suggested that 3% of the population thinks violence against the government is justified or could be justified today... http://westernrifleshooters.blogspot.com/2008/10/knox-younger-responds.html --- Generation Gap in Britain: The 84-year-old man who foiled a jewellery raid by whipping off the mask of a sledgehammer-wielding hoodie has told how he thought the incident was a prank. Have-a-go-hero William Grove stood up to the attackers while a crowd of shoppers stood by and watched. As the two robbers smashed the jeweller's window with sledgehammers, Mr Grove stepped out from the crowd and, proudly wearing a poppy on his lapel, walked up to the robbers as they pounded the reinforced windows. He then grabbed one of them by the shoulder and pulled the balaclava from his face. The pair were so alarmed that one of them had been unmasked that they fled to a waiting silver car and sped off... On Election Day, the Arizona House of Representatives could easily shift to an anti-rights majority if YOU decide it's not worth the effort to vote. Thanks to a pro-rights majority, AzCDL has been building on a steady stream of successes: http://www.azcdl.org/html/accomplishments.html . If the State Legislature shifts to an anti-rights majority because of voter apathy, instead of continuing to restore our rights, we will be fighting an onslaught of bills to eliminate gun ownership. The following are just some of the bills that were introduced just last year, and were defeated, but would have a good chance of becoming law with an anti-rights majority: HB 2833: http://www.azcdl.org/html/2008_bills.html#hb2833. Required ammunition manufacturers to encode an individualized serial number on each bullet base and cartridge case. Possession of non-coded ammunition would be illegal. All ammunition sales would be recorded. A 1/2 cent tax would be added to every round of ammo sold. Manufacturers and vendors would face stiff fines for not-complying. This bill would effectively end ammunition sales and reloading in Arizona. HB 2430 & HB 2431: http://www.azcdl.org/html/2008_bills.html#hb2430 . These companion bills would make you a criminal and lifetime prohibited possessor, along with being subject to personal liability, if a minor gains access to one of your firearms and causes injury or death. Virtually identical bills were also introduced in the previous two legislative sessions. HB 2429: http://www.azcdl.org/html/2008_bills.html#hb2429. Established a new 75 foot perimeter around polling places where weapons are prohibited. Current law prohibits weapons inside polling places. HB 2358: http://www.azcdl.org/html/2008_bills.html#hb2358. Increased the penalty for possession of a firearm on school grounds to a Class 5 Felony. HB 2786: http://www.azcdl.org/html/2008_bills.html#hb2786. Added "post secondary" institutions (i.e., colleges and universities) to places where weapons are prohibited. If you are content to see legislation like the bills listed above become law, then sit out the election. However, if you want to continue to fight for your rights here in Arizona, then VOTE on Election Day.
