Hey SelfHosters please help me out with an alternative to logseq reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- No_Body_7148 · 2023-12-31 15:51 I'm particularly looking at the amazing todo and journaling part I'd love to have (realtime collaboration if possible), my server is a Raspberry pi4 model B 4gb, I've tried self hosting [outline](https://www.getoutline.com/download) however, it fails at compile time with a hard freeze of the pi, If any of you've had success compiling it on pi 4 model B please shed some light. It doesn't have graphview however search is fast and has plenty integrations. Obsidian also i've tried, and still using for note taking however I feel it doesn't have as good a support for todos and block linking even with external plugins. I don't mind something like bookstack or a wiki if that does the job, Your insights would help tremendously. Thanks in anticipation ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Nixellion · 2023-12-31 16:41 Vikunja, openproject, some form of todo.txt spec, or give up and use todoist for simple todo lists :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DIBSSB · 2023-12-31 16:48 Anytpe io ---------------------------------------------------------------------- No_Body_7148 · 2023-12-31 20:52 Thumbs up for Vikunja, I love the concept and execution, I tried it maybe 2 weeks back, It's got a lot of promise with task dependencies and all but I lost some of the tasks I input, I'm not sure of the reason, could be me, but the fact I lost my tasks makes me feel it's still in early stages of development not ready for critical work. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- No_Body_7148 · 2023-12-31 20:52 will give this a try ---------------------------------------------------------------------- No_Body_7148 · 2023-12-31 21:06 Update: Found Atomic-Server seems quite interesting, will be giving this a spin and will post my experience. Please keep your suggestions coming in, and i'll do my best to return the favor with my observations, that could potentially help others in a similar spot. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Nixellion · 2023-12-31 21:29 It is, and overall I am not sure if its development goals and direction is that good. For example it has CalDAV support, BUT it uses some kind of half baked broken implementation that it does not work with a lot of apps. In fact it only works with a few apps that specifically support it or smth. Also the UI, I strongly believe that if the app has task priorities they should be easily visibly distinguishable, and they way vikunja draws it, with no aligment and poor color coding is meh. So I tried it a few times, and for me it didnt work neither as a task app, nor as a task server. Nextcloud with caldav and Tasks.org on mobile was a better combo tbh. But as always I just went back to todoist and adding things to it through API. And for project management decided to use a specialized software, in my case OpenProject is the best fit
