Small CI/CD solution with scheduled tasks reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Radhad85 · 2023-12-31 12:23 I have a static website project in a GitHub repository and need to build that project within my local network because it needs a service I built to create the static pages with data from that service. I have searched a lot and found multiple open source projects but some don't even have scheduled tasks (like [drone.io](https://drone.io)) or don't run on a Respberry Pi because the project does not offer an ARM64 compatible docker container ... Is there anything else except Jenkins which could do this? Jenkins is really heavy for such a small task ... Only other alternative I have in mind are a cronjob with shell script but this is really ugly ---------------------------------------------------------------------- xlrz28xd · 2023-12-31 14:09 Following. I've thought of hosting my own selfhosted GitHub/gitlab runners in my infra for this but I'm also looking for a good solution which is lightweight. Like GitHub actions but selfhosted. One go binary or rust binary types. ARM is a nice to have but not a necessity for me. Let's see what people suggest here. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- stephenc01 · 2023-12-31 14:21 I do use the self hosted gh, also n8n for some ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RandomVanCityUser · 2023-12-31 15:00 > Only other alternative I have in mind are a cronjob with shell script but this is really ugly But isn't that your answer right there: a universal service that is built into your server, that takes no additional resources or maintenance? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- breezy_shred · 2023-12-31 15:11 Checkout Argo pipelines; it's similar to Jenkins, but maybe slightly easier. A few other options are orchestration tools like perfect, dagster or airflow. These are all built for data engineering, but you could create a script to be triggered by gh actions as well as run the same script on a schedule. I don't know if a super simple, homelab-friendly option, but I'm following along to see what others share as well.. Just my two cents. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jonteponte71 · 2023-12-31 15:18 Is Gitea a heavy service? I don’t think so at least. So Gitea Actions? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Radhad85 · 2023-12-31 16:10 I don't use kubernetes on my Pi - just docker ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Dan6erbond2 · 2023-12-31 16:17 Drone does have [Cron support](https://docs.drone.io/cron/). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- breezy_shred · 2023-12-31 16:31 Ahhh, of course. Well, prefect works good on docker. It's probably the easiest of all the tools mentioned to get started with. You can orchestrate any cli command with it on a schedule or event driven (like in CI). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Radhad85 · 2023-12-31 16:36 I could also install Gitea + Act Runner and use repo mirroring from GitHub but I am not able to install the Act Runner properly ... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Traditional_Wafer_20 · 2023-12-31 16:56 Side note: most of the time if there is a docker but no ARM, a simple docker build solve this. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vuiu01 · 2023-12-31 19:18 Friendly reminder to try forgejo instead of gitea. Forgejo is a fork of gitea but with a „better“ company behind it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- KrazyKirby99999 · 2023-12-31 22:59 Forgejo is simply a protest fork with a nonprofit owning the trademarks. No actual improvements.
