Mesh Central Basics reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LazyTech8315 · 2023-12-30 22:14 Sorry, if this is an obvious issue that I haven't found the answer for yet. I searched for the past day and watched videos (like the one on the meshcentral site and [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGBIjBGqlfI] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGBIjBGqlfI)). Anyway, I installed Mesh Central from [https://tteck.github.io/Proxmox/](https://tteck.github.io/Proxmox/) and logged in. I then added it to HAProxy on pfSense. I can log in remotely and click around, no problem there. My first roadblock is adding an agent. When I download the Windows agent from the UI of my instance, it seems to come hard-coded to use a server URL of "local." Certainly this won't work! I'v searched everywhere I can think of to change this on the server UI and it's not allowed on the client. However, if I go to the device group and click "invite" the link it generates has the correct URL... but the downloaded exe still contains the "local" URL. Lastly, In the video above, I see 2FA under "Account Security" in "My Account" but I don't have an "Account Security" section. Is this in a different location now? I'm not familiar with nodejs, but I found this in the package.json: { "dependencies": { "meshcentral": "^1.1.16" } } Thanks for any insight! I feel I'm missing a small step that's important. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- zfa · 2023-12-30 22:27 The address of the agent will be determined by the values set in your `config.json` - e.g. `agentAliasDNS` et al. You can always override this by setting `MeshServer=...` in your client's `MeshAgent.msh` file. You shouldn't have local IMO, but we'd need to see your (redacted) config.json to see why your agent is getting that value. Post will get better repsonses (but slower due to smaller userbase) over on /r/meshcentral. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LazyTech8315 · 2023-12-30 23:10 Thank you. I found the config option in [https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Ylianst/MeshCentral/master/sample- config-advanced.json](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Ylianst/MeshCe ntral/master/sample-config-advanced.json) and added that to my config and restarted the meshcentral server. When I re-downloaded the file, there was no change. IDK. I'll try a post in r/meshcentral. Thanks!
