Nginx reverse proxy tutorials through Portainer gui reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- GroundbreakingAir462 · 2023-12-30 16:38 Noob here. Does anyone know of any good tutorials to set up nginx as a reverse proxy through the portainer interface? Or is this even possible? I assume it's just simple port mapping. the only container I have up atm is portainer and it's connecting just fine, but I'm having issues accessing my nginx login page. I can't seem to find any good tutorials either. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LifeLeg5 · 2023-12-30 16:45 why not use an NPM container? the docs for that one is pretty complete. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- GroundbreakingAir462 · 2023-12-30 16:48 >NPM container Never heard of npm. Do you have a link? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LifeLeg5 · 2023-12-30 16:53 yeah it's a bad acronym also used by nodejs.. anyway : [https://nginxproxymanager.com/](https://nginxproxymanager.com/) nginx proxy manager, it does the setup for you ---------------------------------------------------------------------- GroundbreakingAir462 · 2023-12-30 17:02 Thanks for the link to the nginx docs which may help! but I dont see how this has anything to do with npm now that I've looked into it. I don't think I'd have a use for it, but I'm new selfhosting enough not to know what my full use case is I guess. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- fyijesuisunchat · 2023-12-30 18:04 Nginx Proxy Manager (NPM) as linked here is a GUI for Nginx which allows for easy configuration of an Nginx reverse proxy. It comes as an all-in-one docker container. If you need a GUI and prefer Nginx and deploying through Portainer, this is likely your best bet. It is not possible to achieve your original ask. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- blackoutjr · 2023-12-30 18:18 I would agree using an NPM container makes it a bit easier. Here is my template; ``` version: '3.8' services: nginx-proxy-manager: container_name: nginx-proxy-manager image: 'jc21/nginx-proxy-manager:latest' restart: unless-stopped ports: - '80:80' - '81:81' - '443:443' volumes: - /docker/nginx/data:/data - /docker/nginx/letsencrypt:/etc/letsencrypt ``` Clearly adjust the volume paths for your environment.
