Paperless-ngx error after initial setup: Your username and password didn't match reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- YeahRightBro · 2023-12-30 02:45 Hello, I'm attempting to deploy paperless-ngx on my Synology DS920+. I followed the [Marius Hosting guide](https://mariushosting.com/how-to- install-paperless-ngx-on-your-synology-nas/) exactly. When I attempt to log in for the first time, I get the error *Your username and password didn't match. Please try again.* I waited a few hours just in case something hadn't finished setting up in the background, but I'm still seeing the error. I confirm that the username and password I'm using is the same as what is in the Portainer stack I deployed. Can someone please point me in the right direction? https://preview.redd.it/7eb2gul9ic9c1.png?width=387&format=png&auto=we bp&s=850334b71e16ca3352d16b4e33c7a4c059d56dc2 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Square_Lawfulness_33 · 2023-12-30 03:38 It doesn’t always take what was provided in the configuration and you will need to login using the default login. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- YeahRightBro · 2023-12-30 03:42 Hey there, the default login afaik is admin:admin. I get the same error with those creds. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Square_Lawfulness_33 · 2023-12-30 03:43 looked at the documentation and it wants you to run a command to create a super user. Will the container is running executable this command. docker compose run --rm webserver createsuperuser ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Square_Lawfulness_33 · 2023-12-30 03:52 Did you set PAPERLESS_ADMIN_PASSWORD and PAPAERLESS_ADMIN_USER ---------------------------------------------------------------------- YeahRightBro · 2023-12-30 07:06 To log in, one can either run `docker compose run --rm webserver createsuperuser` or define `PAPERLESS_ADMIN_USER` and `PAPERLESS_ADMIN_PASSWORD` in the docker compose file. I'm using Portainer instead of docker compose so I defined `PAPERLESS_ADMIN_USER` and `PAPERLESS_ADMIN_PASSWORD` in my stack per the [Marius Hosting guide](https://mariushosting.com/how-to-install- paperless-ngx-on-your-synology-nas/). It looks exactly like the code below, except for the values I changed where it made sense. I still cannot log in unfortunately. I was using a password with a $ character in it and paperless- ngx ignored anything from the dollar sign to the right. So if my password was 123$567, paperless-ngx stored my password as 123. I can log in now. Hope this helps someone in the future. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- austozi · 2023-12-30 11:10 > I was using a password with a $ character in it and paperless-ngx ignored anything from the dollar sign to the right. So if my password was 123$567, paperless-ngx stored my password as 123. Was this in docker-compose.yml or paperless-ngx itself? If the former, enclosing the password in quotes should resolve it. If the latter, this sounds like a bug so perhaps open an issue on their issue tracker? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Square_Lawfulness_33 · 2023-12-30 12:18 Create a docker compose file outside of portainer and run the command I mentioned to create a super user, it should be run from the same directory as the compose file. Also if you go to the GitHub of this project there’s a portainer example file you can compare with yours to see if there’s a difference.
