Immich - getting it to upload files to a NAS reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- caycecan · 2023-12-29 01:30 I am setting up Immich via docker compose on a windows 11 machine and trying to set the upload location as a path on my NAS. I already have a mapped drive to Z: and am attempting to use that path to no avail. Here is my .env and compose # You can find documentation for all the supported env variables at https://immich.app/docs/install/environment-variables # The location where your uploaded files are stored UPLOAD_LOCATION=Z:\path\path\path # The Immich version to use. You can pin this to a specific version like "v1.71.0" IMMICH_VERSION=release # Connection secret for postgres. You should change it to a random password DB_PASSWORD=password # The values below this line do not need to be changed ################################################################## ################# DB_HOSTNAME=immich_postgres DB_USERNAME=name DB_DATABASE_NAME=dbname-dbname REDIS_HOSTNAME=immich_redis version: "3.8" # # WARNING: Make sure to use the docker-compose.yml of the current release: # # https://github.com/immich- app/immich/releases/latest/download/docker-compose.yml # # The compose file on main may not be compatible with the latest release. # name: immich services: immich-server: container_name: immich_server image: ghcr.io/immich-app/immich- server:${IMMICH_VERSION:-release} command: [ "start.sh", "immich" ] volumes: - ${UPLOAD_LOCATION}:/usr/src/app/upload - /etc/localtime:/etc/localtime:ro env_file: - .env ports: - 2283:3001 depends_on: - redis - database restart: always immich-microservices: container_name: immich_microservices image: ghcr.io/immich-app/immich- server:${IMMICH_VERSION:-release} # extends: # file: hwaccel.yml # service: hwaccel command: [ "start.sh", "microservices" ] volumes: - ${UPLOAD_LOCATION}:/usr/src/app/upload - /etc/localtime:/etc/localtime:ro env_file: - .env depends_on: - redis - database restart: always immich-machine-learning: container_name: immich_machine_learning image: ghcr.io/immich-app/immich-machine- learning:${IMMICH_VERSION:-release} volumes: - model-cache:/cache env_file: - .env restart: always redis: container_name: immich_redis image: redis:6.2- alpine@sha256:b6124ab2e45cc332e16398022a411d7e37181f21ff7874835e0180f5 6a09e82a restart: always database: container_name: immich_postgres image: tensorchord/pgvecto-rs:pg14- v0.1.11@sha256:0335a1a22f8c5dd1b697f14f079934f5152eaaa216c09b61e293be2 85491f8ee env_file: - .env environment: POSTGRES_PASSWORD: ${DB_PASSWORD} POSTGRES_USER: ${DB_USERNAME} POSTGRES_DB: ${DB_DATABASE_NAME} volumes: - pgdata:/var/lib/postgresql/data restart: always volumes: pgdata: model-cache: 2 things: nothing populates in my upload location I set in the .env so how do I properly set a folder on my NAS as the upload location... Immich clearly runs and allows uploads so where do these go if not the folder i set? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- morbidpete84 · 2023-12-29 03:19 In what context does the docker on windows run (I’ve never used docker on windows) if it runs as system it won’t have access to a mapped drive if mapped via a user (admin or not) you would have to mount the drive as system for the container to see it. Can you just put the UNC path in compose with your creds if needed? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- caycecan · 2023-12-29 04:26 >Update: I don’t think system is your problem as I typed below. Looks like you want to switch to bind. Quick google turned this up. Worth a shot > >https://www.tutorialspoint.com/docker-add-network-drive-as-volume-on- windows Thanks, going to run this down. I have found these articles before but as someone very new to docker its hard to get the plane off the ground without the core concepts to understand them. Looking for human to human help feels less cognitively costly as a first step. All the same thanks for your time. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- caycecan · 2023-12-29 06:18 Very little luck here, at best i can only get files to upload to the /mnt/ folders inside the docker desktop container using a gpt suggestion of /mnt/z/... but that is clearly just putting files into a local folder and not a NAS one that WSL somehow understands the /mnt/ as an automated pathing of mounted drives ( GPT suggests this is the case). Trying now to mount a path inside wsl though tools like sudo and cifs are just not installed with the wsl that docker desktop installs. Going to start up again tomorrow. Starting to feel like turning my spare computer into a linux box might be easier than windows docker and NAS pathing. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- someguynamedlou · 2023-12-29 12:36 Double check to make sure you don’t have a version of mismatched between the app on your phone and the server version. This usually causes that kind of problem.
