Moving to SSO reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- THMMYos · 2023-12-28 23:28 Hello everyone. I'm finally going to put the time on to Install sso on my network... Managing logins for over 5 users got out of hand 😄 My consern is that each user's profile and data created on every service I'm running on it will be gone when moving to sso login so the user profile data will be stored on the ldap and as per what I read till now it will re-create my users. Let's take for example gitea, login there will be handled by Authelia and oauth2. We have created some users using giteas user management and they have repositorys uploaded, projects etc how would I design the sso installed while having users management centralized? Give me a break if I confuse some terms... This all is new to me ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Square_Lawfulness_33 · 2023-12-29 00:15 If it’s a pc login just backup their home folder and restore it on the new profile. If it’s a service look for account backup plugins or services. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- emprahsFury · 2023-12-29 17:49 Yes you're generally correct in that users will have their continuity broken. Oauth does have mechanisms to attach a service's existing account to a new IDP account so there is continuity but the self- hosted scene lags behind the majors who themselves lag the actual standards. Oauth/SSO is like fusion- what you're waiting for is always a few years behind
