Help w/ serverstartup

My wife has an unused laptop that I want to start a server on. I also
have a raspberry pi 4 (4gb) that currently runs pihole and minecraft
servers. I also have two old laptops (from early 2010s, maybe older).
I also have a few hdds and ssds w/ close to 10tb between them all. I
want to utilize all of these machines to setup a self hosted server,
w/ VPN capabilities, and personal data storage.

I’ve read the guides on the wiki page for self hosting. I’m sure I’ll
attempt this first on the laptop but my final goal is to utilize all
the machines that would usually collect dust in a corner.

I am on vacation rn so I don’t have the specs for everything on hand,
but could someone point me to helpful resources on mapping/planning
and executing this process? I know I need to create a cluster of some
sort but I am wanting to learn in depth on how to create one and need
help finding reliable and accurate resources of information on all
this.
