Best solution to access files via network + sync files (nextcloud, omv, truenas??) reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- HerrLux · 2023-12-28 19:57 Hey everyone, I just got a 2nd SSD for my proxmox machine. What I am looking for is a good solution to provide my files within my network as a network drive for windows and mac os as well as to have some files/folders synced to my machines. So basically openmediavault + nextcloud would probably work well. But as far as I know files that nextcloud accesses/manages shouldn't be touched by other services? Also I'd like to use jellyfin, maybe Immich for my media files. Guess I'd be best to run all of these in one vm or lxc? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Other-Technician-718 · 2023-12-28 20:09 Network drive: there is a LCX container in Proxmox with a Samba server to create network shares (I have a VM as a Samba file server, shares for Windows and MacOS) For syncing files I use Nextcloud. If you touch Nextcloud files in the file system you can read them periodically with an occ: command to have changes in Nextclodu - but there should be no need if you already sync them. And depending on the amount of files and compute power it may take a while. Or you could use the nextcloud linux client to sync files from your Samba shares with Nextcloud. Another way could be to mount a Samba share within Nextcloud - have never tried that, could maybe work for your needs.
