It's new year: show how your backup is structured and organized reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anejey · 2023-12-28 17:04 Well, it exists... never found the time to test it or organize it. I run Proxmox so all containers/VMs are backed up via Proxmox Backup Server (on the same PC, just different drive). Then I also got backups via Proxmox itself. Technically it is backups on 2 separate drives so I'd survive a drive failure, but if my PC gets fried so do the backups. As for my personal data (photos and such, about 70GB) is stored on each of my media drives (3 of them), then it's stored in Mega (just a part of it), then another part is stored in another cloud service, and then the full backup is also rsynced to my Oracle block storage. Fairly comfortable with this. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Pesfreak92 · 2023-12-28 18:17 Well I kinda have a backup on my NAS if that counts. At least all my photos and important data is backed up there and on an external drive. But I don´t have a seperate place to store them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- naxhh · 2023-12-28 19:49 Proxmox backup server running on an old qnap server. Server is on a different room Bakcups lxc and vms and also a Cron job to backup a shared media mountpoint (apps config and photos) Movies and TV shows are not backed up. Too much space not worth it imho. At some points monthly backups will go into glacier. But haven't set up or looked how to get that going yet ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kondorb · 2023-12-28 20:01 I’m running TrueNAS - ZFS redundancy handles “HDD suddenly died” case, ZFS snapshots handle all the “I’m an idiot” or “software went rogue” cases, cloud backups to Backblaze B2 handle all “house went ablaze” cases, object lock on B2 handles “extremely sophisticated and deeply tailored crypto malware” case. Most critical things (documents, passwords, encryption keys, etc) are also automatically synced into my other devices to handle the most often “internet connection at home went down” issue. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Raithmir · 2023-12-28 21:31 Proxmox backup server with important stuff rcloned to Backblaze. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- schklom · 2023-12-29 00:07 daily cronjob: - turn off all containers - copy container mount folders to a different folder - update and turn on all containers - Duplicati backups the other folder to a VPS with a few TB storage ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 100lv · 2023-12-29 13:02 I have 2 backups running in parallel - Kopia and Duplicati. Both are backupup information locally + on remote server (again in my home) + sync to Google Drive.
