Is my Jellyfin using Intel QS as expected? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ASouthernBoy · 2023-12-27 16:08 I have Jellyfin installed in Proxmox LXC (not in a docker), igpu is passed to lxc as instructed . CPU is i5-1135G7 with 11th gen igpu and as far as i understand should be transcoding easlily a couple of streams. Now my end devices typically use direct stream as they are capable but sometimes on mobile phones i have Jellyfin transcode , when this happens LXC CPU (2 cores assigned) spike around 30-40% and igpu to 100% So my dillema is , is this normal shouldn't cpu/gpu be much lower if this gpu is to handle a couple of transcodes. Videos in question are always 1080p 265 10bit (HVECS) Here's screenshot of CPU utilization - CPU https://preview.redd.it/sm49nfks2v8c1.png?width=1002&format=png&auto=w ebp&s=1f10f29972052b08b9ee5ac9c5f143212d0538dc and IGPU https://preview.redd.it/g1pg839t2v8c1.png?width=1140&format=png&auto=w ebp&s=b9137277cb4a17cd23fea42f92464c00225ec623 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ex800 · 2023-12-27 16:25 Unless you have "Throttle Transcodes" enabled, it will go full steam ahead for the transcode buffer, take a look at transcoding framerate under playback info. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ASouthernBoy · 2023-12-27 16:43 around 330fps, but shouldn't CPU be idling, i thought iGPU 100% , cpu like 5% or something and that was the point of quicksync transcoding right? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ex800 · 2023-12-27 16:53 Yes, I'd expect the CPU to be lower, however what is on the rest of the command line? Is Jellyfin also doing something else that is not hardware accelerated? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ASouthernBoy · 2023-12-27 16:59 nope that one process, the first one, is using 60% cpu for transcoding [cpu](https://imgur.com/a/D9sPp8c) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ex800 · 2023-12-27 17:17 so having had a check, I see something similar with a Quadro card, maybe ask of the jellyfin [forum](https://forum.jellyfin.org/)? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nyanmisaka · 2023-12-27 19:28 Audio transcoding is handled by the CPU. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ASouthernBoy · 2023-12-27 20:09 that makes sense, thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ex800 · 2023-12-28 09:16 TIL, ty!
