Self Hosted iCloud solution? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Fast-Print-3510 · 2023-12-27 09:29 Hi! I'm looking to host my own icloud alternative, something like NextCloud. A must-have is an auto-backup function of photos. But is there a way i can keep using icloud photos, and delete photos in this app, and it will be deleted in nextcloud/other solution too? Why i'm asking this, once in a while i clean up my library, so it has to be synced to my local storage too then, otherwise i deleted pictures on my iphone while they stay in local storage. Thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- _Thoomaas · 2023-12-27 23:33 I have no solution for you Only a hint how to achieve it. You are asking for something that runs on your phone too delete everything anywhere or got stored. That's the wrong approach. Use something that syncs your iCloud to something local. I don't know if it's possible as self hosted. With OneDrive oder Google drive it is possible ---------------------------------------------------------------------- adamshand · 2023-12-28 05:41 I haven't done this, but I believe it's possible. * Use one of the programs that downloads photos directly from iCloud (eg. [iCloud Photos Downloader](https://github.com/icloud-photos- downloader/icloud_photos_downloader) or [OSX Photos](https://github.com/RhetTbull/osxphotos)) into a folder on your Linux server. * Use something like Immich or PiGallery2 which will create a gallery based on a pre-existing folder of images.
